Fire Mage PvP Guide MoP ft. Hansol [5.2-5.4.8]

Just wanted to come by and say hi on this video that I used in MOP. Thank you for making fire mage my favorite class in WoW. I didn't do a lot of PVP playing WoW until I got on my fire mage. Some of my funnest memories were in 2v2 PVP thanks to guides like this.

Yes I did exclude that part because in high rated / fast paced situations, you sometimes don't have the time to re-apply your DoT when you're going for the last second kill with deep. I've learned the hard way when I re-apply instead of just deeping quick they can top themselves or just purge my proc. So 15% is minimum for GUARANTEED crit on frozen target at ALL times.

I've been playing Frost my ENTIRE time when PvPing, I saw one of your videos earlier today and decided I was going to try it, what I did was read up on what talents etc, I figured a lot of it out since I'm actually quite experienced when it comes to PvP, but this deep freeze combo you showed me REALLY helped me out, with the alter time in it as well to get back one of your pyros. Yep, you have to be quick. Once you reach level cap, it gives you a bit more extra time because of the resil, but it's something you will need to become accustomed to in order to play Fire.

Re-apply barriers, dot enemies (remember LB can go up to 3 targets at once), spellsteal enemy buffs, cc with polymorph / db when you're outnumbered. There's so much to do while you're fighting which is why the first method of gettting a Hot Streak is very capable of fluid combat.

This is one of the best guides I have ever seen for just about any game. Clear, concise, entertaining, well made, decent music, great explanations and I learned a lot. If you don't do something like this for a living or at least make side cash on it then you really should look into it. Now if only there was a guide like this for Arcane.

Because it makes the cooldown much longer. In PvP you want to have it up as much as you can to get those extra pyros in deeps.

No, in between the cooldown you can cc healers, etc so by the time you get a proc the healer will be cced unable to dispel deep. Or you can spellsteal barriers and procs. There's so much to do. Watch my arena videos and see what I do in between the interval.

this was by far the most helpful video on fire mages and it is by a fellow pyromaniac. thanks so much for this. once i get MoP (yes i am stuck in cata but i still hit hard) it is going to help even more. for the most part my skill tree is alot of getting the drop on the enemy and taking damage as well as building crit as much as possable. i never knew about the pres-frostjaw combo though

I spellsteal important buffs such as shields and HoTs, also CC by casting polymorph, breath, RoF, Frostjaw, etc. You just need to know how to manage your CCs and procs. If you want a few examples, check out my gameplay videos to see what I do situationally. Good luck!

YOU GENIUS! this help'd me a ton! i acctually found if you manage to get a counterspell for the lock out, then frost nova, throw in a scorch right before you deep, then you can build up pyro's abit quicker :) but you said, loads of diffarent ways to get the shatter combo

Haha. Glad to help! Also. yeah that definitely works well, especially versus healers, but also very risky because anyone else can come in and interrupt you which will shut you down. In 1v1 situations of course, it's nice.

I started playing frost, because my friends told me that frost is way better then fire. but after a while I saw your video about fire mages, i reforged everything to play as a fire mage but didn't really know how to play it, so i changed back to frost. In high rated arena, no good team will let you get a frost bomb coordinated with a deep with a pyroblast off. By the time you cast a frostbomb to deep, your pyro will be purged or frostbomb will be locked, etc. I'm sure it can work under 2.2k mmr in 3v3 or duels vs certain classes though. I'm not ignoring it. I've tried it already.

There is a range slow its flamestrike which was combined with blast wave after cata. Its a cast but with presence of mind or ice floes makes it usable

Make sure your target is frozen for your combustion to Crit. If your Combustion does not crit you wont get your second hot streak proc, which might be the reason your rotation is faulting. Frost Nova then Deep Freeze. Without a deep freeze, your pyroblast will break the snare and leave your opponent thawed. Hope this helped.

That's because Target Dummies don't have resilience, so the smallest damage will break roots unlike enemy players, but to counter that, use Deep Freeze glyph to take DF off gcd so you can spam it and it will go off in less than a second.

I used to do that, but sometimes you are very unlucky and you don't get a heating up by spamming scorch, so the whole time you've been spamming hoping to get a proc, you could of already had one with these two methods. I don't like depending on luck. I like guaranteed procs.

Well PvP Power got nerfed first of all, and secondly, you can only burst every 30 seconds so it's gonna take a couple of deeps before you kill them since they can pop defensives or trinket. Within the 30sec intervals waiting for deep you need to survive. Hope that makes sense.

My mage just dinged 90 and i'm finding that i'm more comfortable playing fire than i am playing frost. I had 318k health and was doing pretty decent in arena's for my cap but cus my gear is, atm, crafted dreadful, i'm using blazing speed alot to kite.
