AZORES: FLORES island

Every island in the Azores is similar, most with exquisite scenery, lush vegetation and every possible shade of green yet still possessing its own charm and unique characteristics. It's a natural paradise. While admiring the unspoiled and breathtaking beauty of this place images of the Garden of Eden pop to mind. Unspoiled by an overabundance of tourists and the insatiable desire that more is better, found throughout most of the world, the Azores still remain a natural paradise. If you're looking for peace, a blissful romantic honeymoon, or just a place to recharge your batteries come to the earth's Garden of Eden.

I was born on this wonderful island, however I had to immigrate to another country with a better quality of life. In my opinion, the island of Flores is one of the most beautiful islands in the Azores or if not the first most beautiful, there is a lot to discover, from caves that can only be seen on boat trips, diving to see sunken Slavonia, canyoning and much more. Flores is amazing, I loved the island. I had such a nice experience there with beautiful people. I would love to go back one day to spend more time on the island.

@@noemimikleova During the months of June to July there are island festivals where you can see the traditions, I believe you would like them. It is an isolated island plus Corvo and has a lot to discover. The ideal would be 12 days, no more than that, there are people who prefer longer, they never get tired of the island.

This island is impressive, alagoa and the florest Park is very nice, the top and lagoons too. There's waterfalls everywhere, people are very nice too, I hope you enjoyed.

I AGREE, the island is a true fairyland! I really enjoyed staying on Flores! Are you from there?

@@noemimikleova I'm from the mainland, near Lisbon. All the islands have some beauties, I advise you to know Pico island bcz its the younger one and there's lava rock everywhere, Terceira Island is a must too, probably the island with more History. Graciosa is small, good for camping hikers and have san beaches. S. Jorge its another beauty. Maybe in the next year I can know the last one of my list, Santa Maria. Enjoy your stay in Portugal.

@@Brunbrown exactly as you say, all of them are beautiful, and unique in their way. Me personally, I think I like Sao Jorge the most out of all of them - but this is just a personal opinion and I think preferences just vary according to the experiences, people you meet, etc...(however I have not been to Pico yet, but I really hope I will have a chance to explore it soon). Fingers crossed for you for Santa Maria!!!

I liked watching your video. Such a nice place to visit. I have been there in 2017 and spent just 3 days, did a trip to Corvo to see the caldeira and toured Flores on a scooter. Not too many tourists in September. I would like to go back to the Azores for a fourth time and visit Faial and Pico once more. Just seem never to be able to plan this around my work scedule and familly matters...

There are many more beautiful pools in the rivers to take a bath or even swim... but not all have such an obvious easy access. Ask locals, they know the spots.😉 There is one near the old water mills in the valley near Lomba and another one just below the bridge when you are going from Ponta Delgada to the lighthouse. Therefore you have to go down over a field on the right side a bit up before you cross that bridge over Ribeira Moinho.😉

Was in Ponta Delgada for 5 weeks in August-September. Was hoping the house I stayed at (the closest to the port) would make it into your video 😏 which is very good. That hike you did is a very long one - I was too lazy to finish it starting from Faja Grande so I came back. I have been to all island and come to Azores every year! Thanks for the video!

I hope you had an amazing time on Flores :))) it’s true, it is a bit long, and basically all the time uphill-downhill 😅 but I think it was worth it, the trail is super nice. That is really cool that you already visited all of the islands, do you have a favorite one???

@@noemimikleova Good question. Last 4 years i go to Flores since i spearfish and i always get fish to eat there. But i also liked Graciosa - not that good for fishing but made good friends there and Sao Jorge - good fishing. Really tough to say. Azores are amazing and secluded since I hate crowds. They have this vibe that tough to describe but makes me feel at peace and kind of dissolved in nature. Even San Miguel has places like that. If you ever go to Sao Jorge - check out Faja do Ouvidor on the north coast. Amazing!

The thing is that each of the islands is slightly different in some way, so yeah it is super hard to pick one. I absolutely LOVED Sao Jorge, I returned from there a couple of weeks ago. If I would have to pick one island where to go back to, I think it would be Sao Jorge (however I have not been to Pico and Santa Maria yet)

@@noemimikleova Santa Maria is small and a bit more dry. Was there twice. Pico has the famous mountain that by the looks of it you will most definitely climb 😅. Pico has a combination of black rocky shoreline and lots of vegetation above it. Next year I will try to go to Sao Jorge - have buddies there!
