I had the pleasure of replacing the bladder tank on my Aztec, my arm, over my bicep was black and blue all the way around from reaching through the opening to get the damn clips in place!

When we did the baron one person would line the clips up on top and someone else would push their hand from the bottom hole to clip it in. Barons suck

I like the camaraderie between all of you you guys make me laugh I only worked on general aviation airplanes for a short while and then I was with the 121 carriers for a very long time I enjoy your channel can even learn something and definitely have a good time watching, God bless you and your family’s

Sweet old Convair. BTW, plenty of radials with odd numbers of cylinders. Driven a few inline 5s as well.

I know, my old bro metro was a 3 cylinder. Any number that divides evenly into 360 will work for number of pistons

Inline engines are very different from radials. All aircraft radials have odd numbers of cylinders. The firing order skips next cyl, so that every one hits over two revolutions. 1-3-5-7-9-2-4-6-8, then repeat. Most had cam rings that rotated backward at a fraction that was less than half of the crank rpm. I barely understand it, so I have a tough time describing it! Some aviation museums have rotating radial engine cutaways, but few show the cam ring.

A little tip for that stuck panel, MEK would probably help alot! Once you get it cracked spray some in there.

I confess, we generally seal that tank inspection painel (It tends to accumulate water inside and you get some rust in the fuel senders/screws). but definitively NOT with glue hahahahahah

Yeah with RTV, or pro seal and mold release, or silicone, or a foam gasket… but not glue 😂. The correct material to use is called out in the manual…….

Had a capillary line feeding a fuel pressure gauge fail. The smell of gas and the front seat passenger wondering what the blue stuff was made for a stressful RTL.

The aircraft is a Convair CV580 / each turboprop turbine has 5000HP / I painted its sister ship about 2 years ago.

ok so one thing you didnt explain... how the hell do get those clips in that you put in in the corners (the ones you said weren't clipped in at the start).... i'm assuming that's why you need the double length arms :D

Are you in Montgomery? Seems like the logical choice given all the Military training activity I keep seeing. In this video alone, a C-17, a Navy Ac and a Lakota with obvious Rucker markings.

If you want to get technical that’s a mechanical gauge… the leaking metal diaphragm is actually the oil pressure sensor and the mechanical linkages that attach to it are the gauge…. So the sensor is leaking and the gauge is not

You won't die if you use brushless. Fuel terminals allow it. Your using your phone or camera and I would guess it's not intrinsically safe. Safety squints and double rubber. You'll allegedly be fine.

@@aviationsquared1909 I didn't say they can't. But in your instance you won't blow up. Not sure how your buddy blew up his house but I've heard this happening if there's a gas leak and you reach your LEL. Flip a light on and it flashes. I weld on deadly stuff everyday. When it's your time it's your time. Mitigate what you can. Prepare for what you can't

@@aviationsquared1909 Aviation Mechanic ( Hydraulics) I was an AMS (Structures), Navy aviation rate. In a squadron you do both but intermediate level maintenance separates them. Now we are just AM's.
