My friends and I add the bonus points for full rows, columns, and colors at the end of the game so we don't know who wins until we add those.

I actually prefer Azul: Stained Glass over the original game. I find it an easier teach for non/new gamers. The fact that you have the option of skipping a go to move your glazier allows you to dodge people trying to screw you over at the penalty of missing a whole turn and messing with your game plan. The game ends after so many rounds regardless of whos winning and negative/bonus points are calculated at the end so it retains a little more tension on who the winner will be.

As always a great review. Have only played the summer pavilions version, which uses similar mechanics. Agree on component quality.

Azul is always one of the games I feel like I should get because of the praise it gets, but still haven't gotten round to it. There was a deluxe version called Azul Giant that is stored in a briefcase and had double sized tiles, and yet the blue and red ones are still unpainted. Probably costs an arm and a leg if anywhere still sells the thing.

Can always get Azul Master Chocolatier edition. Looks great in the table.

Good review. Agree with pretty much every point you raise. My wife and I love this game.

I personally don't think that the tiles are too small, but if you desire to fondle bigger pieces, your call. I thought the game experience improves significantly when you use an overlay for the playerboards, but that's just my preference.

love the quick detailed reviews, like/not like/judgement and mission exposition intensity that some of you may not make it back alive, but thats what you signed up for, so get on with it ffs

Yep, great game, one of the few that made abstracts feel "cool". I don't think I agree that there is too much luck. I'm consistently beaten by high elo players on Board Game Arena. Grabbing the first pick token is a big advantage to mitigate that, and also denying pieces from the opponent is really important.

I just said that some people may feel a bit miffed that they end up with crap tiles through the tile draw not there’s too much luck 👍🏻

I can’t be too rude about this as my opponent owns it, he and his family enjoy it and if it turns up at games night I will play without gurning. Also there is some player interaction and would be more if my eyesight wasn’t total shit at this stage.

This game has never really called to me, maybe it's just too abstract? Forcing a pile of hippopotamus shit on someone though, has actually raised my interest level quite a bit.

Yes AZUL is worth "it", considering that "it" is a mere €20 if you get the awesome mini version.

Game is very colorblind friendly

I’m colourblind ignorant but is there no way to confuse blue with red?
@theshogunstein64752 жыл бұрын
@@BoardGameBollocks blue and red are not colors that affect most colorblind players, again everyone is different, but most of the time it will be between blue and purple, look at Sagrada for example or between red, green, brown....for most blue and red are not an issue
@theshogunstein64752 жыл бұрын
for red,green, brown issues look at the original century spice that is a great example

There even are replacement tiles for the colours without patterns on them (red and blue)

Teach this to a 5 year old? What bollocks! My daughter is 5, and it would be a little bit too tactical for her. A 5 year old tactical genius maybe ...
