💲 NEED FINANCIAL ADVICE? 💲
1) Google "fee-only financial adviser" or visit www.NAPFA.org (largest association of fee-only financial advisers). NOT an affiliate link
2) The first question to ask any financial adviser is, "Are you a fiduciary to me 100% of the time". Get the answer in writing
3) Please note that some people call themselves "fee-based". This is NOT the same as fee-only. Fee-only advisers have committed to being fiduciary to you 100% of the time.
4) Personally, I would only hire an adviser who is a fiduciary to me 100% of the time. This is not a suggestion on what you should do. Just sharing my personal preference.
⚠️ Azul's "Scammer" Warning ➡ PLEASE READ! ⚠️
Be careful of scammers. In the comments section, I will NEVER ask you to contact me, offer any investment products, recommend a stock broker, or anything similar. Some scam bot commenters 'ask' for investment help, and later, other comment bots reply with "how great X idea/investment/person is" in the replies. These are scam threads. Do not fall for them.
🚨 Azul's VIDEOS ARE NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE (Disclaimer) 🚨
This information is only provided as an informational resource and should not be viewed as investment advice or recommendations. To get professional financial advice from a fee-only financial advisor near you, please visit www.napfa.org.
The decisions on how to invest, when to retire, and other financial planning topics are some of the most important financial decisions you will make in your life. I urge you to seek professional financial advice as you make this decision. Ideally, from a financial adviser, AND a CPA AND an attorney. Having the perspective of all three professions will help you make the right decision for you and your family.
This information is being presented without consideration of the investment objectives, risk tolerance, or financial circumstances of any specific investor and may NOT be suitable for all investors.
This information is NOT intended to, and should NOT, form a primary basis for any investment decision that you may make. Always consult your own legal, tax, and/or investment advisor before making any investment/tax/estate/financial planning considerations or decisions.
Spoiler Alert: There are no "get rich" programs. Rather, just basic blocking & tackling and putting in time and care. Do your homework, choose wisely and (IMHO) work with experienced professionals who are fiduciary to you 100% of the time.

The US economy is split into two categories. People with assets and people without assets. This economy is absolute hell if you don't have assets that go up in value. If you have assets that go up in value you are doing literally the best you have ever done in your whole life.

This is why you have to be frugal and work your ass off. Its not like mid 1990s and prior. I can work 30 hours a week and pay all my bills and maybe have a little savings but I live frugal and work 80+ hours. That's the only way. My parents were horrible with money so there's nothing there really and I don't have a partner with a 2nd income and it's the only chance I have to get dry powder to save and invest to be able to someday get a house and retire with over $1 million. Its the only way for me

There are lots of problems with economies around the world, including China, Russia, Argentina, Germany, the UK, Japan, and I’m sure there are others. One huge issue in the US is the amount of the national debt that needs to be thoughtfully, equitably, and carefully addressed over a number of years, not abruptly. Additionally, the concentration of wealth and the disparity in what the majority of US citizens makes compared to the top earners have both drastically changed since the 1970’s. This has resulted in a large percentage of the population being left behind without enough money to live on and is the reason there are so many homeless people in North American cities. One major cause of that is the loss of manufacturing jobs and lack of access to training so people can find new jobs in different sectors of the economy. Certainly these are issues that desperately need to be addressed. That being said… I believe your explanation using statistics about how well the US economy does during the four years following an election can be mostly explained by a new president initiating their own agenda and Congress passing laws to support the agenda and then funding them. The funding part is what causes the economy to begin to improve. You also mentioned revisions of previous economic reports which commonly happens. I don’t think the Fed, the OMB, or other government agencies purposely mislead the public about the health of the economy. The US economy is still by far the strongest economy in the world, but the country needs to implement solutions to the issues addressed above before we dig a hole so deep we can’t get out of it.

Drugs, alcohol, not moving where jobs are located, showing up to work, working odd hours, want certain benefits with no skills and starting money that takes time to achieve. The effort just isn't there. Everytime i read or hear one of these podcast, i see that everyone thinks that Boomers just had it so easy! I can tell you, in my case it not so, but i turned it around by hard work and not buying toys!

In 1982, the year after i graduated HS, the unemployment rate in NYS was 10%. When I bought my first house, a dump of a 2 family in a small town, the mortgage rate was 16.5%. Industrial goldmines that fed generations were slowly evaporating causing a ripple effect that devastated a lot of areas in the US. Some had it hard, some had it easy. Family ties, money, and a good education can make all the difference.

@@rickmiller1649same! Graduated high school in 1982. Horrible economy! Coming out of a very long recession. High internet rates! Super high. Todays high rates are actually normal in comparison. Most people were staying in college for second degrees and living off student loans and supplemental loans because there were no jobs, or enlisting in the military just for the work! It wasn’t acceptable to hang out in parents basement back then! We had to find our own way! It took me three years to get a “real” job because I had no practical experience and had to compete for entry level jobs against 200 other applicants with experience. Only way to survive was to sign up at temp agencies. Worked as a temp for those 3 years, full time going from one agency to the other, whoever could send me to work. I was incredibly persistent so I was rarely more than a day without some sort of work, as low paying and in stable as it was. No benefits. No medical insurance. No paid time off. It was brutal! Finally landed a direct job with a company after three years of that then things got better but I was living hand to mouth for a while. Did I mention I was also a single mom? It was pretty tough. No. Todays kids don’t have it any harder. Housing cost more, but jobs are there. Benefits are there. Roommate up if you have to. I did! It’s nothing new. We all had to make sacrifices! After I got the direct job, I took advantage of tuition reimbursement to go to school at night and earn a bachelor degree. We had no online schooling back then so I had to go to the university classroom. It made for a late night and tired next day at work. This went on for years, it took me until age 32 to graduate. Tell me how easy that was. Raising a child alone, working in the day and going to class a couple nights a week. It was exhausting but it finally paid off and I wasn’t deep in debt under student loan burdens. Every generation had its struggles, todays younger generations don’t have it worse than every other generation in the history of the world, though by they go on, you would think they do. 😅

My wife & I just bought a 2025 RAV4 last week. We took advantage of an "end of year" sale that was going on. The dealer wanted to give us 4.9% financing for 60 months. Screw that! We traded in our 10 years old Subaru Forester with 104,000 miles on it & paid the difference off in cash. We bought brand new on the possibility of tariffs & supply chain issues coming. Our grandson had an older Camry that broke down because of a camshaft & the local Toyota dealer told him it would be over 3 weeks for the parts to arrive, at the soonest. It was the 2nd big issue with that used car they had last year. He bought a new Corolla at the same dealership the day before we bought the RAV4. Supply chain? We're taking precautions, just in case. A brand, new refrigerator is next week.

The Wall Street Journal did a big story just prior to the election claiming that who ever wins will inherit a healthy economy. Inflation has been at normal levels for a few years now, allowing wages to outpace it, unemployment remains near record lows, the stock market, obviously, has been setting record highs left and right. The general consensus within academic economics circles is that the economy is in great shape. There is really only one incentive for "the gov't" to lie about the economy and that's victory at the polls, no longer an issue. The biggest questions going forward is how far Trump takes his anti-immigrant agenda and his tariff schemes, as immigrants play a huge role in the economy and tariffs would add big price tags to consumer goods.

There were two pictures of the economy, the Biden economy was pretty good with a 26% increase based on positive corporate earnings and the other side has presented the Biden economy as the worst economy ever and the worst president ever. The reality is that a 3.5% unemployment rate allows anyone who want a job to have one, and that pay role money is being put back into the economy, so we are not being lied to about the current economy. Having that much money going into the economy can add to inflation, so what is happening is normal. the rate of 3.5% inflation is also correct if you don't add "bird flue" effects into your only measure of the economy. I have a job and can live on 65% of my net income. I can live on 65% of my net income because of the choices that I have made in my purchasing and long term spending habits. But I do know what a want is vs a need. But so many do not know the difference.
@MegaGuapo97

@gibblespascack1418 TRAGIC AND PREDICTABLE: The selective use of economic statistics to paint contrasting narratives about our economy - whether a 26% market increase or claims of unprecedented economic failure - represents the kind of Stage One thinking I've critiqued throughout my career. The true measure of economic health isn't found in isolated metrics like the 3.5% unemployment rate, but rather in the real purchasing power of wages and the sustainability of our economic fundamentals. Your ability to live on 65% of your income demonstrates the importance of individual decision-making, but it's dangerous to extrapolate from personal cases to national policy, particularly when monetary expansion is creating artificial prosperity. The distinction between wants and needs is crucial, but government policies that create artificial stimulus often blur this distinction, encouraging consumption patterns that wouldn't exist in a more market-disciplined environment.

The stock market has gone up far more under Democratic presidents than Republican presidents, which is funny because a lot of people think the market does better under Republicans since they are thought of as better for business. Azul is wrong, don't be pulled in by conspiracy theories. The economy is doing very well by almost any measurement. The big thing is that prices have not come down fast enough from the relatively brief period of inflation (9 months) that we recently went through. Other things beyond anyone's control also keeps prices high. The war in Ukraine, attacks on shipping going through the Red Sea and others. Prices of some things have come down, but many things have still not come down.

This stick market is anything but free market capitalizism. The Fed controls it with money supply... Print lots of money and it's to the moon, take that printed money back out of the market (normalization) and market will start to fall as liquidity dries up. 2007 I think fed balance sheet was about 750 billion and got up to I thoght about 10 trillion woth all the printed money.. It has to go. Somewhere so there are only so many assets so things skyrocket. Take that liquidity out (which fed is trying to do without crashing market like 2001) and markets will come back to the mean for that liquidity level. Moral of the story "keep the Fed wind at your back" when it turn s to a headwind beware

@@wakan98 Excellent question. To back up my guess (after your question) I read a few articles and visited the Bureau Of Labor Statistics. Perhaps I overstated, yet over time they changed the "basket of goods" used to calulate inflation. They have dropped food, energy and the cost of buying a house from some methods. To me this makes the numbers somewhat useless. Needless to say the truth is hidden. Some numbers say inflation would be a couple percent higher. Add these things in...and perhaps my guess wasn't that bad.

Speaking of lies... 1. My first piece of evidence we're being lied to about the US economy doing well and will continue to? The first year of a presidential term has comparatively poorer odds of going up vs down. Of course, I'm going to contradict this later when I point out the wrong year of the current president's term was a bad year, and I even say don't use this as a data point. - This data point is absolutely meaningless. Did you consider for example that perhaps what might explain this is if there's been a change in the presidency/party in power it's more likely during a period of economic problems? FDR, Reagan, Obama, Biden just off the top of my head all came to power replacing either an incumbent of the other party or replacing the party because the incumbent was term limited out partly because the economy was already bad based on GDP. But that doesn't mean the economy is bad even if people think it is. See Bill Clinton's victory in 1992 partly because there was a perception the economy was crap because of the recession in 1991 when the economy had already recovered by 1992. Regardless, none of this matters as a predictor of what's to come in 2025. 2. The government says inflation for me went down because I switched to a cheaper brand of cereal. - No, that's not how the government calculates inflation. Consumer Price Index doesn't much care what you did. it takes a representative sample of consumer goods weighted by how much they are purchased and compares them across time. MAYBE if you and a BUNCH of other people switched to cheaper brand cereals it might matter, but it is irrelevant what you did individually when government calculates the inflation rate. CPI isn't perfect, but this description is absolute BS. I have a hard time believing an experienced personal financial advisor didn't know this. You owe it to viewers ethically to do better than this instead of trying to tap into common perceptions that everything is some conspiracy. 3. "The third year of the current president's term was 2022." - No, it wasn't. Biden was elected in 2020, and took office in 2021. That was his first year. 2022 was his second year. Still don't know why you're even bringing this up, but at least get your facts straight.
