Battlefield V is a first-person shooter video game developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts. Battlefield V is the sixteenth installment in the Battlefield series. It was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 20, 2018. Those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition of the game were granted early access to the game on November 15, 2018, and Origin Access Premium subscribers on PC received access to the game on November 9, 2018. The game is based on World War II and is a thematic continuation of its World War I based precursor Battlefield 1.
Battlefield V will focus extensively on party-based features and mechanics, scarcity of resources, and removing "abstractions" from game mechanics to increase realism. There will be an expanded focus on player customization through the new Company system, where players will be able to create multiple characters with various cosmetic and weapon options. Cosmetic items, and currency used to purchase others, will be earned by completing in-game objectives.
The game will feature several new multiplayer modes, including the "continuous" campaign mode "Tides of War", "Firestorm", and "Grand Operations". The Grand Operations mode is an expansion of the "Operations" mode introduced in Battlefield 1, which focuses on matches taking place across multiple stages to simulate a campaign from the war. In Grand Operations, each round will have specific objectives, and performance in each stage will influence the next. Games will culminate with a "Final Stand", with players using only a primary weapon with limited ammo, and no respawns. Similarly to Battlefield 1, the game will feature a collection of single-player "war stories" based on aspects of World War II. The game also features a cooperative mode not seen since Battlefield 3 called "Combined Arms", where four players can undertake missions together and features dynamic missions and objectives so missions cannot be played the same way each time. Combined Arms is scheduled to be released after launch. The Battle Royale mode will be built around the franchise's "core pillars of destruction, team play, and vehicles". The name "Firestorm" is derived from a literal storm of fire that engulfs players similar to the popular Battle Royale game mechanic of restricting the play area. Furthermore, this particular game mode is not being developed by EA DICE themselves, but has been outsourced to Criterion Games and features the biggest map created by the franchise to date. It is playable by 64 players, which are divided into up to 16 squads with a focus on team work.Firestorm is scheduled to be released in March 2019. - Wikipedia

What modes did you mainly play do get this tank unlocked quickly? The 500 grenade damage is also kind of bothersome, I'd assume you used impact nades?

I did a mixture of incendiary grenades and impact grenades. Took a bit more than 1 round.

Vid was good. Got sandwiched by two of these Archers last night in a Tiger. They took me out pretty quickly. They were both at E on PanzerStorm I was coming over the ridge. I spawned back in Panzer lV and took the high road to E . Surprise , surprise ,engaged one from the side. Knocked him out before he knew what hit him. The other was clueless just popping off long shots. Between myself and a infantry player, I tore him a new ass with some AP rounds. I have the last segment to do to add the Archer to my rotation.

Btw, the gun is mounted backwards not only because of size, but because since it's a tank destroyer/ artillery, it's better for it to have increased backwards speed, so it can retreat easier

You are absolutely correct that it is an advantage of the Valentine. There are some records that some Sherman Firefly tankers also did the same by having their back faced towards the enemy when they are dug in. Some felt that they can escape faster and that they have their entire engine compartment for crew protection. There aren't a whole lot of reliable historical sources that I found but for the few that I came across, the original thought was to keep a general length short and profile low for the Valentine Archer. Having a long and large gun permanently sticking out may have caused balancing issues. It may also hinder movement in tight spaces. 👍👍

The bug at 2:40 started to happen to me, I couldn't figure out why my tank remained disabled at least now I know it's just a bug that will hopefully get fixed soon, all in all great video and this looks like another promising tank I have tried it myself (upgraded) and I quite like it but the Stug tank is still my favourite.

I also thought the permanent engine failure is a bug. It is able to be fixed upon taking fire from another tank or explosive round from a ground troop. It is very annoying to have the engine failure as the tank moves very slowly even when you try to fully repair via a supply station or repair tool. But a great tank for sure. I chose the total left side of the tree for its perks. Loving this tank.

I think giving the archer the capacity to have 40 round might be a bit too much. I sat on the left side of the new GO (part 3) as defender. There is this sweet spot that covers the attackers road advance to B as well as a clear view of A in the fields. Killed about 10 - 15 inf, 2 tigers and 1 halftrack in a few minutes. It moves nothing like it's real life counter part which sucks but makes it a disgustingly good tank. However, the fact that the driver is the only one facing forwards, it is very easy to get tunnel vision meaning you can get flanked if you dont keep checking your surroundings.

Great game play! You've got yourself a new sub. I'm curious, why do you hop out of your tank to repair when it is so risky. I understand that you can heal your tank past the damage threshold, but it just seems so dangerous. Is it because you are confident in your positioning?

While I could not be 100% certain, I do my best to take cover, typically behind the allies' line of defense. I also make sure I am not out in the open without cover. I know that if I don't repair my tank externally, I will most likely die in the next fight so that's the reason why I do it.

It’s slow going forward because that’s technically the reverse gear. The Archer has the same plat form as the Valentine but the gun is facing rear ward.

I unlocked it earlier and I’m happy with it, it will probably be my allies go to for now. I went with the armour piercing rounds and the two rounds I played with them I was disappointed. Not sure if I’m using them wrong or what. Definitely gonna try out this load out soon.

Yeah, There's a bug that makes all vehicles sometimes "Jump" it's super annoying. And makes it so hard to hit, sometimes it starts to jump constantly.

Well, chances are that the gun carrier has more health but a worse gun. Plus, the Archer has a much lower profile than the gun carrier Irl there are a lot of differences, but I agree that I'm game they're pretty much the same, just with small differences

There is through the challenges but if you missed it, you can just buy then with company coins later. The StuG costs 100cc. I figured it is super cheap because of the bug that caused a lot of people to not get the tank even when they completed the challenges.

I think it is just to simply the control scheme for most people playing this game and not make it overly complicated. This game is fast paced unlike other dedicated tank games that allow you to camp and dig in so I can see why DICE decided that this may just fit this game better.

That's how you would normally do but this tank is bugged, the engine cannot be fixed with self repair, nor repair at the resupply station. Once it is damaged, without the field repair upgrade, it is permanently damaged until your tank blows up. I really hope this is a bug that DICE just overlooked.

It's actually a really bad tank compared to the rest of the tanks. It does so little damage that is why it needs the ammo. The Stug is so much better than this pos tank. Hell, I can do more damage with the light tanks than with the Archer since they're faster, have a faster reload speed, and do the same damage. Mess up another tanks turret and tracks with a light tank and just dance around them. Archer you tend to get way too many ricochet.

You also have to remember what DICE did with the Assault Truck in BF1. It drove forward just fine, but with the gun fixed to the back, the controls were super janky in a fight. That was the handicap, controls. If such a thing didn't exist, it would be on par with the Light and Heavy tanks.

Tank is mental There's no trade-off in the form of your rear facing the enemy for this mega-cannon as you don't seem to actually take rear hit damage values from my xp. For example, Tiger can roast normal Valentines with 1 APCR round - I've had like 70 damage from side or rear hits at non-perfect angles. I have guys in Archer just facetanking my Tiger, APCR round doing

Absolutely mate, I haven't tried fighting against the archer yet, but I am *totally assuming here* that you take engine damage if you get hit in the "front" (where the gun is facing) and you would take rear damage if you get hit in the "back" (where the actual historical front of the tank). Other tanks, you get both if you get hit in the back. I will have to do more testing to find out.

soldado fumado I got the tank the other day and all I was able to shoot was the front of turrets and the glacis of all the tanks (they were attacking so the were always facing us) I encountered and I win almost all of the back to back shootouts 🤷🏽‍♂️

Tiger would kill most things in 1 hit, most allies tanks with bigger guns like the m10, Firefly and so on will also kill the tiger in one hit as long as they get closer. But this is just for balancing issue in gameplay so I can understand why DICE went this route.

Yes, a Tiger would kill it in one hit, but the Archer could easily kill the Tiger in one hit from a great range thanks to the size and power of the 17pdr gun. Any of the tanks I'm bfv could be knocked out in one hit, but that would match a game like War Thunder better than bfv
