Wow, that's the most awesome floor-hitting B-17 I've ever seen... Suppose this is a new tooling, but I actually built the original Airfix kit back in the late 60-ies... (Yes, I'm an old-ish man now...) :-D Didn't pay much attention to details, I mainly glued all the parts togehther, then roughly brush-painted it with Humbrol 11 Silver enamel and got the decals on as soon as possible... Looked great then, would have been a total disaster now... I think you did a great job with this one, Sir!!

thanks mate. I have built the old kits as well (yep i an oldie too...lol) and remember thinking how cool they were back in the day. We are really spoiled these days with all the great kits and products.

What type of paint did you use to paint the OD and red on top of the Alclad?

Can you use the enamel paint of Revell on this model kit? since there are also paint numbers on their site but I don’t know if those numbers are the same colors as the enamel paint of Revell. Sorry for my bad English...

yeah mate you should be able to use revell paint.

I don’t know if you will see this but I just got back from Arizona in America and met a B-17 pilot and his also a Vietnam vet I bought his book and got his signature bought his plane and a bunch of others models.

Very nice alu finish. True Master. how you managed to get such a shiny finish? on my p47 i used first mr surfacer with Level thinner, Then a gloss black and then on top of it alclad polished alu. My problem was, that my finish was way to dull. Like i sprayed a cheap revell Aluminium acrylics. Please help me, what did i wrong? Air pressure was about 1 bar.

Alclad can be a real pain some times. If its humid it clouds over. Also just build it up with light layers until you get the nice shine. To much and it will cloud over. The black must be a nice glossy finish as well. I spent a lot of time playing around with alclad until i got it right.

It looks like a much better kit from Airfix than the Handley page Halifax B.III. 1/72 I got Last week.

yeah it is a very nice kit. I think the Handley is one of their old molds...not sure. Seen some built up really nice.
