Xrm150.blogspot... for more videos and FREE pictures! This is the B-17 "Chuckie" flying at the 2013 Tico Warbird Airshow. It sure is alot bigger than I thought. The stabilizer is on so the take off/anding looks a little warpish.

I actually worked on her and flew her with Doc's son Bob. I also flew to many airshows with Doc, Chuckie and Bob and flew in his Piaggio, another one of Doc's birds. He actually signed my logbook with a few hours instructed. I am one LUCKY and THANKFUL man. There were a good number of people who donated their time and effort working on her and keeping her up. I am so very sorry to hear that Doc passed away, GREAT MAN! Chuckie and Bob, I hope all is going well with yall and your families. Kent

I remember this plane from before the chin turret and top turret. Never got a ride, but Doc had been my dad's flight surgeon, so we had a few chances to hang around and tour inside.

this plane was used as a crop duster just right before Doc Hospers got it...I spent many of hours in this plane as a kid...my dad did the paint job on it in the late 70's as he was part of the crew members....RIP Doc

Yes, quite a large aircraft, 75 feet from the nose to the end of the tail turret, 103 foot wingspan. When the aircraft is parked its tail is almost 20 feet high. I've never seen "Chuckie" before although I have seen the Collings Foundations B-17G "Nine-O-Nine" on a number of occasions when the aircraft visits plymouth, MA each year in September. I've also seen The Yankee Air Museums B-17G "Yankee Lady" at the 2013 Jones Beach Air Show, and I saw the B-17F "Memphis Belle" (not the real one, but the one used in the movie) at the 2011 Geneseo Air Show.

This B-17 used to belong to the Vintage Flying Museum in Fort Worth TX, up until a few years ago. It was named after the wife of the owner, Chuckie Hospers.

Makes me sad to see this magnificent machine. That it had to be built to KILL in order to save. That so many enter and never left this machine. That many were saved by the power of this machine. It brought so much death and it saved so many lives in return. I love the B-17 they are all incredible. Great Video..but a moment for all those that the B-17 protected and many never left them. I hope this makes sense...
