B-52g Bomb Run at Red Flag Nellis AFB. 524th Bomb Squadron, 379th Bomb Wing

This was created in 1986 from site tapes from Nellis AFB during a bomb run our crew flew. Original tapes are long gone so the quality is poor; 3 generation VHS. All crew members were from the 524th Bomb Squadron, Wurtsmith AFB, MI. The base was closed in 1993.

When I was a crew IRN, my pilot once asked me if we were in a hurry to run the bomb run checklist. I told him we went fast because thats how fast the RN was checking and throwing switches. I still remember the checklist almost by rote. Red Flag was the most frequent chance we had to do an actual release by the bomb nav system. Thanks.

Friggin sweet. Although I think the initiation delay a bit short. I’m an aviation enthusiast, love the BUFF and old SAC and Wurtsmith and the 379th were the best SAC base/units ever hands down. Got any MITO footage? Scrambles from the mole hole down the ol Christmas 🎄? Thanks!

I was at Griffiss...I'm glad they shut that hole down! Why would u put a SAC base right in the lake effect snow of Lake Ontario?????????????????????????/

I flew on the mission at Nellis Dec 1986 with the 668 bms Griffiss AFB. Did u get to c any of the tapes made by the F4 and A10 (best one with the guy grunting). Gotta tank on my six can't shake him what do I do...Speed brakes hard turn and I'll get him when he overshoots ! :-)!
