They do have a "world championship" where teams from all over the world compete against each other. I think team USA was Martin, Canterbury, and a few other guys. Not sure where the last one was but they've had their event in Mexico and Canada along with a few lakes here.

He almost has to chose MLF over Bass if wants to fish both because the fines for MLF anglers missing events is absolutely ridiculous. I get the DQ because of the off limits but there lies the other issue of the organization scheduling over each other. Did they both really have to the go to Lake Murray with in a month of each other?

Most definitely they need to bury the hatchet. Poche knew the rules and deserved the DQ, but schedule in my opinion is set up to not help the anglers fish both tours.

As a fan with a strong history in FLW, ( my son produced the TV shows and livestreams for 17 years) and a member of BASS I think they should forgive and move on, but I recall the first year of MLF and not only did they snag the top anglers, they TrashTalked the 5BassLimit, and solidified their “enemy” status, but I now am a fan of both leagues and anglers in both leagues like you Ryan, and Gussy since his rookie season with FLW. I think the anglers voted to disqualify John Cox and Poche’ out of their opportunity to eliminate competition, and yet they all say “ when it’s your time “ it’s just human nature to want to be a part of the Best,yet competition can can and does create drama.🤷🏻‍♂️ I know Lake Murray Country is Happy to have both leagues fishing there, and I was there for the final Forrest Wood Cup when Justin Atkins Won 🏆 then it became the FLW Cup that Thrifty took the final cup.

Ryan. Couldn’t agree more. If bass and MLF came together and collaborated with a joint tournament where the top 25 of each trail competed in a championship style tournament for let’s just say $300,000 it would be the most watched event in bass fishing. They are missing the mark by staying so secluded from each other and I think the anglers need to speak up and make something like that happen.

Competition between the two leagues is good for keeping the leagues accountable. If the leagues want the best guys to fish with them, they have to treat them well or lose them. That being said, there's no reason they should let anglers fish both. Pick one, sign your contract, and go compete.

THE SPLIT happened way back in the late 1990s early 2000s when the FLW left BASS…so it has been 20 +++ years already 😢😮😢 so nothing has really changed or gotten any better…if anything we have gone backwards 😮😮😮

I like mlf lives better but it's because I can listen to it at work and not have to watch it to know who catches what .. but bass will always be the one I grew up on I more less like all the pros I am a little partial to the locals ,as in salzy ,Wiggin ECT but kvd is king no matter where he is at lol

This sorta used to be a thing called the Toyota Texas bass classic.. but that got merged or purchased by Bass and now it's exclusively Bass.. used to be Bass FLW and PAA... I guess someone needs to start something new like that.. and include the NPFL

Two tours equals twice as many pro's get to fish at the highest level. Sponsor dollars, or competition for sponsor dollars by the management of both tours is probably at the root of this current division. But if you think about it, the sponsors are getting extra eyeballs on their products because both tours are now being watched by more people than ever before. I like the idea of having a joint event, not to take away from their respective tours but just imagine the attention it would get. Think NFC/AFC pro football = Super Bowl!

I think there has to be some communication between the organizations in order to not schedule events on the same lake during the same week. I also believe the organizations like to have one conflicting event during the yearly schedule just to make the pro anglers have to choose which trail to follow. I will always think BASS is the best tournament trail. But, I can also see where lifelong professional anglers are getting tired of seeing BASS being sold again and again to different owners and investors. Ray Scott sold his business in 1986.

They should merge and definitely adopt MLF catch, weigh and release procedure. Also change qualifications so some exemplary fishermen from the local level have a chance to work their way up without draining their bank accounts. Call it the MLF Open.

I feel like MLF should keep leaning on what they did with the og cup series where they were going to less repeated bodies of water.. using the catch weigh release allows for going to lakes with slot limits.. it gets old watching the same lakes over and over and over again.. MLF definitely does go to new/smaller lakes more often which I love. Bass not so much.. this particular dq wouldn't have been an issue if they both didn't go to Murray... that being said I still feel coordination between leagues would be smart simply to prevent overlap... then fans have to split viewership.. can't be good for either organization 🤷

If it means BASS stops hauling around fish, including bedding fish, all day in live wells just to have a show at the weigh in, I am especially for it. Definitely prefer the way MLF does the live coverage but BASS has done so much for the sport and both are great organizations so at least some joint events would be great. Definitely think it is better for them to work together on coordinating locations and timing of events.
