,,The real mistake is to stop trying" - this quote hit me the most, because I find it essential to go through life. Whatever we are struggling with: work, personal life, goals, when we stop trying we are done. The most important thing is to never give up and after a moment of weakness to stand up on your legs and try again. I have one thing that I am struggling with all my life and I wouldn't say that I'm on the winning side, but when I fail I always stand up and try another time in different way and I hope I never will stop trying.

I’m glad to hear it! Any advice you could share with someone who is considering quitting?
@Sebeszczynowy

@@5MinutePsychology Not exactly. I believe that there is no advice for that. It has to be in our heads, that after days/weeks/months of quitting, there is one moment in which you just won't. At least that's how it happens in my case. Maybe there are things to say that may cause this thought earlier, but unfortunately I don't know them.

All the elements are valuable, but I think the first piece of advice is most valuable to me. It reminds me of a sentence that I have known for years - it is better to give a man a fishing rod than a fish. The skills and methods we learn in life give us wisdom. Wisdom is gained with age. Thanks to this, we become independent and we are able to find ourselves in new difficult situations. Thanks to this, we can direct our own lives. A good teacher can instill in us a love for the subject he is teaching, and that is remembered for a long time.

Thank you for this video. It reminded me of many important and useful things. The most important for me is to remember that the reinforce behavior will be repeated. It is better not to pay attention to the unwanted behavior. It is sometimes difficult for me. It requires patience and work on myself.

Skinner was indeed the most influential pychologist as those methods of learning and motivation are still the most effective by learning process.From my own experience those teachers who implemented behavioural methods were the most successful in teaching. Personally,I prefer such methods as positive reinforcement and learning with passion.

@@5MinutePsychology indeed, in theory it seems to be piece of cake to implement,but challenging must be to use it in practice and to be consequent, but according to Prof. Skinner" the real mistake is to stop trying"😉.Therefore I feel encouraged to use it and keep trying. Basically,I fully agree with all of the quotes provided in this film, therefore it is so complicated to choose the most relevant for myself. What I find the most captivating in quotes is;that "extinction is better that punishment." In this point I have experienced it a couple times by my children and believe me or not,it is the most powerful way of persuading unwanted behaviours. Children are great observers and brilliant explorer,they want all the time to and to be on the center of our attention. However, when they feel ignored,they postpone the unwanted behaviour as they did not achieve the expected goal. If it would be so easy, to be consequent...but per astera ad astra...

@@lucynaanna7303 Thank you very much for this information! It’s good to hear an opinion of another person who uses it in practice and not only in theory.

"Person who is punished, learns how to avoid punishment" that line gave me slightly different view on some situations happened in my life. You know, sometimes it can be applied on me as well. I am terrible at chemistry and physics. After few failed exams I decided to hard study every topic regarding material that will be covered on next exam. It was so hard, but I maded it somehow. I was able to recite book like a national anthem. Still got D, but at least I didn't failed 😅

Fascinating video, thank You. I am just thinking why such a popular psychologist was the inspiration for Principal Skinner in Simpsons. It's quite uncommon to put real people, especially scientists or psychologists in cartoons. It would make sense if he would describe or introduce real Skinner's hypothesis in some way, but in this cartoon he was a desperate, nerves person. Maybe just to show the opposite of the real Skinner, who can control his emotions as a psychologist. There may be an educational aspect too, but that was indirect, so only people who were interested in the origin of this character could get to know the real Skinner and his phenomenal conclusions of his experiments and research.
