I have followed በነገራችን ላይ program for a long time. However, so far I have not seen such intellectual like this gentleman and አቶ ጌራ former EPRP member who has integrity and confidente. Such life lived like these two intellectuals is life worth living !!! Than you sir!!!
May the Almighty God bless you Mr. Dereje Haile. Keep up the good job. I have learned a lot from your show. Much respect for you. God bless you and your family.

I am glad that Walelng didn’t become a leader in the Ethiopian politics. He would have been a complete dictator and murderer. We are now paying for the stupidity of people like him.

Thank you Prof. Gizaw. You are explaining history from time and place point of view. It is abstract for a lot of Ethiopian's. I hope your listeners take advantage of your constructive explanation. Thank you.
Thank you dear Derjee! You took us 50 yrs back This gives us a hint what that group look like ! & how they loved they're country ! This is dynamic & interested Story !
The reason for the mess the nation ended up in is not the questions Walelign raised, rather the tag of war that happened between that generation. Those who raised critical questions about the nation's matters couldn't manage to create a win win environment that could have been suitable for everyone, they got lost in their egos and ended up scattering in unproductive directions. We hope those years and all the negativity that resulted will be a good lesson for the new generation not to repeat negative history.

They did it denying episodes of Walelign and his friends. Today they are criticized ignorantly for harvesting cheap popularity on expense of values of hero icons like walelign. Bravo Dere.

really it was very good dicussion about the past student movement thank you dere!!!
Thanks Dere for making us the reality: I felt sorry about those who are sharply critisizing the pitifull Wallelign. As long as there is discrimination and lack of good governance for all the people of our country Ethiopia, raising the question of nationality issues is inevitable, so, why to curse this man too much. Rather than trying to solve the problem by avoiding, analysing and identifing the root cause and acting wisely is the better alternative, let us think wisely not emotionally.

I remembered him when I was in 5th grade, he was 12th grade at w/o Sihin school , Wallo, Dessie, he was a mad and angry student. No matter what, he had an issue. There was always demonstration in the street, he was at the front.
Walelgn was ahead of his time, he was a selfless truely progressive person, many feudal sentimentalists still believes he is the cause of all what’s happening today, but the truth is he takes the lion’s share of this country’s political in devour, many victims of systemic oppression have come forward to seek justice and attain their rights through just struggle.

Thank you for situating Walelign as a product of his time, for saving him from political fads and historical shortcuts fashions of the modern era, and from "hanging judges" !!!! Thanks again for your impartial, balanced and cross reading approach and intellectual honesty ! I wonder why and how did we get to the current ideological sinking after this legacy?
@user-fr3cg5dp1s4 жыл бұрын
Walelign might be a product of his time. However wishing the disintegration of your country for the sake of your ideological belief was wrong then as it is wrong now. Walelign is part of a generation full of hubris and arrogance. Little did they know how socially alienated and culturally uprooted they were.
@assefawoldeyes52194 жыл бұрын
@@user-fr3cg5dp1s Walelign wasn't for disintegration of the country nor I was and I am now! He said it. His excessive use of words was part of his character and intended to provoque an effect rather than to assert a definitive statement on that sensitive issue. He just presented a "document paper" for open discussions and different interpretations. He closed his presentation by saying: "Down with fadism" and "Down with Chauvinism". Walelign had come to the universal truth: "Facts are stubborn things, they speak for themselves". It's up to you to judge Walelign and his generation (as mine) in such a partisan manner. But there's no getting away from this sensitive issue after 50 years !!!! As we use to say: "በሽታውን የደበቀ መድሀኒት አይገኝለትም". That's where we are now.
