If I may, the DBD34 BSA Gold Star was introduced in 1957. It followed the DB34 Gold Star. Mine was a very well used 1956 DB34 Gold Star in Touring configuration. It was fitted with touring cams 65-2448 and 65-2450 and a 1 1/8" TT carburettor. STDT gearbox with needle roller layshaft bearings, forward footrests and standard BSA handle bars and curved exhaust pipe like the B33. The swept back pipe was for exhaust resonance reasons on the Clubmans Gold Stars. Tested the day I got it, it did 95mph. Read the manual and learnt about the eccentric rocker shafts for tappet adjustment which did away with the reciprocating weight of the adjuster and lock nut on the B31/33 series. Checked and found the exhaust valve was open all the time so set it at 0.008" clearance initially, to knock off the suspected carbon build up and as 17 year olds do, decided to test it again to see if was any faster. Did 104mph! Thanks for the post, brought memories flooding back.

I think we will have to agree to disagree . Copied from the owners club website "1956 500cc Revised Cyl. Head DBD34GS 2001 BB32R 301 " . Lucky you being able to ride motorcycles in the golden era less traffic . Glad you enjoyed the video . Cheers

Yes it's a bit special . The old smiths chronometric dials look at them and guess what it says with them moving all over the place . Cheers Anthony

I wouldn't say impractical. Converted mine to full Clubmans trim, close ratio box, clip ons, rear sets, 1 1/2" Grand Prix carb. and rode it across central London a few times including around Hyde Park Corner.

I don't do the proper right turn signal as most people don't recognise it . Yes it's the most fun you can do with your clothes on . It's demanding to ride as you have to think all the time right side gear lever 1 up 3 down shifting and no idle set up so you have to keep the revs up when cornering and taking off . Cheers mate glad you enjoyed it

@@norfolkandgoodmotovlogs lol yes most people would think your just giving a wave to another motorist , your probably right it's as close as you can get with your clothes on , brilliant 😄

It is so strange to see such kind of a dash, I mean the opposite direction of the speed and rpms indication. Otherwise a wonderful bike. Thanks for sharing it bro. Drop by when you have time. :)

Involving motorcycle.Glue and lockwire the kickstart rubber. In the event of an off or collision, bare hands don't fare very well when scraping along the road.
@norfolkandgoodmotovlogs Жыл бұрын
Yes you are right should be wearing gloves i was wearing them up to that point but pulled in the layby and forgot to put them on . Don't think it's the proper rubber as it's too loose so i think i will get a new one and glue it . Cheers

The problem with British kickstart rubbers is they are made from rubber, and last a couple of problematic months. Japanese rubbers, on the other hand, are made from plastic and can last for 40 years or more.
