Bösendorfer have found the sweet spot when it comes to designing and building their pianos. The significance of this tone is breathtaking! Much congratulations to Bösendorfer and the restoration team!

One of the most beautiful instruments I've ever seen.

I’m a mindless Steinway partisan. But WOW. That’s such a unique sound. And so…precise. I guess it’s partly a function of the individual stringing. But even among Bösendorfer pianos this one seems to have an especially lustrous sound. I sure would like to hear some straight jazz played on that instrument.

I had a Bösendorfer upright piano in the 1950s from about the same date, the action was superb. I had never experienced anything like it. I wish I lived near you to come and try your Senator.

Spooky! The brand name on the right cheek appears, disappears, re-appears… what sorcery is Robert practising? 😮 Beautiful, resonant sound even at the extreme bass end. Steinway…eat your heart out! Would be a great instrument to hear in a full recital!

What would be great is being able to go down to the low G below the lowest A on the piano at the end of the Chaconne. I have always wanted to hear that!

Beautiful piano and sound! What Temperament and tuning style is used? Robert, your choices for demonstration really show off the piano's sound!
@LivingPianosVideos16 күн бұрын
The piano is tuned to a concert level of performance in a tempered stretch tuning suitable for an instrument of this size.

Feurich in Gunzenhausen used to make pianos in pyramid mahogany styled after Sheraton. Alas, not available now. Bosendorfer stopped making the model 275 decades ago. Their new model 280VC is a very different sounding instrument.

Can you play a piece from Davidsbundlertanze or Kreisleriana????
@peteacher5216 күн бұрын
A motorcycle magazine I once bought regularly, included in its test criteria "Ability To Forgive Rider Error", an extremely useful rating. I wonder if you could modify the idea and apply it to a grand piano's "reaction" to the multitude of different players that perform upon it? And yes, I've viewed the Steinway/Petrof video.
@davidgrauvogl182715 күн бұрын
When it sounds amazing even through my laptop speakers, you have a gem! Robert, it looked like you really enjoyed playing this piano. I'm curious: Last I'd heard, Bosendorfer was owned by Yamaha and even shared a few parts. How does this piano compare with its present day counterpart?
@LivingPianosVideos14 күн бұрын
Yamaha has kept the Bosendorfer factory intact. So they’re still making beautiful instruments!

What year was this piano built? Does it have a modern action, or the old style from the 1800’s?
@LivingPianosVideos12 күн бұрын
It was originally manufactured in 1935 and has a new Renner action: livingpianos.com/pianos/bosendorfer-rare-senator-style-concert-grand/

Wonderful!!! Question Robert.....I am a 74 year old intermediate pianist. I get frustrated that playing new pieces take me a long time to learn. How long does learning a new piece take?
@LivingPianosVideos14 күн бұрын
How long it takes to learn a piece depends upon whether you’ve ever been taught how to learn a piece. If you’re interested in more information, you’re welcome to email me robert@livingpianos.com.

I suspect it's one of those situations where if you have to ask, then you can't afford it.
@@LivingPianosVideos not as much as I thought it might be, but still beyond my means. This is a truly magnificent instrument and it should go to someone who can not only shoulder the purchase price, but also provide it with a suitable home, and the regular care it deserves. It should also be under the hands of an accomplished pianist.

I’ve played a couple of Bosendorfer Imperials, both with the extra drone notes below the standard keyboard. Both sounded fantastic. Sadly my piano playing was good but not up to the quality of the instrument!

@Chopin-Etudes-Cosplay16 күн бұрын
So what does “Senator style” mean?
@LivingPianosVideos16 күн бұрын
The Bösendorfer Senator style is a rare cabinet design distinguished by polished pyramid mahogany with pear-wood inlays, creating a distinctive and elegant appearance. This design often features a five-corner case, further distinguishing it from standard models.
