hi cat lady, i'm still a little confused about the Balanced IT Feline which is the commercial blend of vitamins and minerals for them, . can i use the b vitamins that we people use for the cats? and how about the taurine, is it ok to give them the taurine capsules that humans use too? i'm sorry for my many questions, i just couldn't find these for my cats and strays, i am too scared to try without confirming my questions above because I have been looking in vain for these (taurine, vitamins and minerals specifically made for them?) for a while now and found none. also what else do i need to add up in terms of the commercial blend of vitamins and minerals for them? thanks :D i hope you see me here hehe.

Vitamins with b12 included for sure have that extra boost that your pets need to get all the right nutrients. After giving my cat balanced breed vitamins, I saw a significant difference in how he was acting considering he has arthritis. The vitamins help with not letting it get out of whack and he remains a happy kitty when taking vitamins.

Squirt is going on six months (next week) on your raw food diet! Still can't thank you enough for giving me the courage to try it! Admittedly, I've run out a couple of times and have a premium canned brand from New Zealand (which he used to love) on standby, but he really doesn't like it anymore. I feel bad now, even just temporarily serving him commercial when I'm in a pinch. As you've said before, it's best to buy and make it the same day or else they may not touch it, and you've wasted time and money. Not to mention, it may give pet parents the false impression that their cat doesn't like raw food if it's not as absolutely fresh as possible. As always, Jasmin, thank you so much for all you do, and for bringing us these awesome educational videos!

I'm embarrassed to say that because I always "like" your videos as I'm watching (so that I don't forget), and because I'm already subscribed to your channel, I closed out your videos as soon as you said: "Be sure to like and subscribe to my video!" By the way, I was very excited to learn Puppy and his cousin's results of the BasePaws DNA test last week. Thanks for the follow-up video :) Their present results are a little too broad, but I'm grateful that you followed up with a results video for us all. I'm likely to have Squirt's DNA through their database as the company's results mature. Having said all of that, as always, I'm looking forward to next week's video, and every Caturday video you ever put out for us in the future! Correction: "Meowt-out!" I should also say thanks for the detailed information about "B-complex" vitamins in this video-specifically to look for in the capsules. Originally, I was using "Doctor's Best" but I had to buy that brand through Holland in order to get it to Canada, so I have been using "SiSU Cool B50," but it contains the "cyanocobalamin" (synthetic) form rather than "methylcobalamin" which has a higher retention rate. So, I googled "Doctor's Choice" again, and this time I stumbled on a site that ships it from the U.S. to Canada which, unfortunately, Amazon doesn't offer on their Canadian site at this time. Also, I checked all the expiry dates on the supplements and found that the "Now" Taurine expired last month, so I placed an order for it as well. I just made his last batch a few days ago, but luckily the taurine had only just expired. So, today's video kept me rather busy after it ended LOL. By the way, I did catch today's "Meowt-out," which I thought was very kind of you and had no idea that I missed Squirt's and my mention last week :)

I can tell you what I do. I take part(1/3) of our B-complex tablet powder it , Also I add pinch of turmeric powder. And mix on the wet cat food (3 servings for 2 cats). no problem , no throw up and no adverse reaction. I don't like buying cat multivitamin separately . The price is outrageous. If you add tiny bit of our good quality multivitamin in their wet food (may be 10 servings) . I think it should be fine. You might think it is too little for cat. But in the long run it is beneficial. For omega vitamin you can buy a can of sardines/Herrings/Spra(without salt) and mix one can in 20 servings. also you can add pink salmon(wild) cost effective. That will give them enough omega-3 fatty acids . I don't like feeding farm raised meat/fish to pets nor I eat those garbage

I have consulted my vet for my fur baby's diabetic neuropathy... asked her TWICE to please give my baby vit B12 and other Bs... She refuses to answer. I have read a lot of articles and went on forums for Diabetic Cats and a lot of people have given Methyl B 12 and Folate and other Bs to help their cat's neuropathy. The product you are presenting in your video, I undertand, can also be given to cats... Does the amount given to cats (instead of humans) depend on the cat's weight ? Can the product be given to diabetic cats ? Consulted two vets and none of them are aware of how Methyl B-12 can help with hind legs (neuropathy)... but the study is there !

I noticed that catnutrition.org uses 4 capsules of B complex 50 in 4.4 pounds of meat and bones. Where as Dr. Lisa Pierson at catinfo.org uses 1 capsule per 3 pounds of meat and bones. Just a side note these two ladies are friends and they have much respect for each other. I came here to watch your video because one of my cats refuses to eat raw food and is on a canned only diet. But I believe the reason is he is very turned off by the smell of the B vitamins. On Dr. Pierson's website she suggests starting out with 25 mg rather than 50 mg of the B complex and increasing it in future batches. But she does say if your cat is turned off by the B to go ahead and leave it at 25 mg. Just wanted to mention this for people that might be having the same issue as me. I also just got a new kitten and I think she is turned off by the B complex as well.So my next batch I will definitely reduce the amount of B. And finally I'm wondering how many capsules you use to how many pounds of meat?

There’s probably so many supplements on the market for cats. What would you say are the best Taurine and Vitamin B supplements to buy? I’m a new cat owner feeding kibble/wet food at least for now so I’m hoping to buy some sort of powder or something to add to my kitten’s food so that he gets the taurine and vitamin Bs that he needs. Eventually when I have the time I plan to experiment with raw but til then what would be your go to supplement products. Also should I give him a probiotic as well?

Question Cat Lady Fitness, is it normal for a raw fed cat to sometimes not finish there meals and sometimes just refuse meals completely? I have a cat who like lots of variety, I used to think she didn't like/want her food so would give her something else. I can't give her the same flavor food more then two days in a row before she starts to leave it. At her last weigh in she had gained weight on the raw food so I'm wondering if her refusing food is her having less of an appetite? Perhaps I wasn't doing her a favour tempting her with more food, but I don't want to see her hungry.

Hi there! Check out the "why did my cat stop eating their food" (or "why isn't my cat eating their food") video in the cat stuff playlist as it may lend more insight :) but keep in mind, because the raw food is so nutrient rich for them and high in protein, the volume they need is going to be way less than previous "filler" foods ie. commercial dry or canned cat food. You can refer to the portion size calculator on CatLadyFitness.com to check how your kitty's servings match up to those calculations, too. Hope that helps and good luck 😽

tashabash9000 I have changed my cats diets this week to raw, I have bought some pre made raw food from natural instinct and purrform! I did this because they weren’t enjoying their wet food and the only way I could get them to eat it was to add bits of raw steak, chicken, duck and some bone! So I swapped them over, and they HATE IT! they are not enjoying it. I don’t know if it’s because their food is completely ground so there isn’t anything for them to chew and naw on. I’m sticking with it though because I don’t want them on the crappy raw food! I’ve started to put it back in the fridge if they don’t eat it, and bring it back out when it’s their next meal! X

The mg of vb in the calculator is regarded to what exactly? I am using a different brand of vb. How do you feel about feeding your cat or dog a raw diet that includes snake food which is baby mice baby chicks whole ones that are breed just for feeding. They are frozen then warmed in a plastic bag in warm water then fed to the animal. Would you still apply more vitamins and minerals?

I don't know what is this raw getting into everyone's mind ? Remember when you feed raw which is not cut and cured by you , you are bringing in lot of risk to your pets. You are buying from store where there is no guarantee how it is preserved, how old and may be it got salmonella. What will you do ? Better to feed cooked food but with 70% protein in it . I used to feed 100% protein to my cat but due to cost and health I reduced protein amount in their food.

While we're on the subject of nutritional supplements for cats, what is your opinion of Kitty Bloom? I first became aware of it more than 30 years ago when my mother was a CFA registered Abyssinian breeder. I know quite a few people with cats on raw meat diets use it with good results.

Hi Will! I've never deeply looked into it but just peeking at the ingredients briefly, I personally wouldn't use it from the first two ingredients alone (as well as not knowing the sourcing of their vitamins, etc, as the listing of ingredients is pretty vague in that sense). Rice and specifically rice bran has been shown to prohibit the absorption of taurine, which is super important for our kitties... yet rice flour is the second ingredient. My guess is that it may just be a dated product or formula, especially since it's been around that long and there have been plentiful studies since then! But it's great that you know people who are loyal to the brand/product and see success with it. Raw food + even moderate supplemental vitamins is ALWAYS better than dry kibble or grain-based foods 😻
