I have a cat that had severe stomatitis and required extractions at 2 years of age. I home make turkey/chicken blend and occasionally tiki after dark canned cat food. My cat has no molars at all .. he seems to enjoy chewing up cooked quail eggs, but I don't know of any way to feed him any better. Do you have any knowledge or advice?

Happy Sardine Sunday! Good to see you doing a video. You are looking good. For now, the main diet for Colbie, Panda and me is ground beef (theirs is raw, mine cooked) and boiled chicken thighs. It's affordable, and there are no issues with supply or any of us not wanting to eat. I'm finally getting them to eat liver. And there are the weekly sardines or poached salmon. It is a lost cause trying to convince the Hill's Shills that organic phosphorus is better, and absorbed differently from synthetic. Bless you for the work you do. Shalom!

Oh nice!!! They are finally eating liver woo! And yes I hear that about the minerals. Oh well, better to spend the energy on people who want to learn. Something I battle with all the time! Shalom, brother ♥️

I'm currently feeding my cats pre-made raw, I used to feed them diy raw, but had to put that on hold because of the living situations & I still wanted to feed them raw. 1 month ago I started adding bigger whole-prey to their diet. Both cats were previously eating mice pinkies & now I'm adding 1-2x a week young mice, tiny rats or day-old chicks to their diet. so far they love chicks the most❤ i'm planning to order full-size mice for them, because both cats eat the tiny mice easily - 2 bites and it's gone😆 sadly no-one sells hamsters for food, only alive ones but that would be too much and I don't agree with feeding alive prey to cats :)

Oh nice!! I've found that feeding premade raw along with whole prey is easiest. That's what I'm currently doing. I'm feeding viva complete with whole prey. Much easier meal prep! I have found hamsters from cold blooded cafe. That's the new spot I ordered from. I wanted to have some time with their products before making a review video but that's coming. And yes, I agree we do not feed live prey to cats. All of cold blooded cafe's prey are frozen (:

How do you know or decide where to get healthy whole prey? And how do you figure out how much to feed a day?

There is a link in the description for Hare Today. If there is pet store near you that sells snakes or other whole prey eating reptiles, they might carry food as well.

Very interesting. Feeding whole prey definitely looks like it is great for their dental health. The only concern I have is that I watched a video once that featured Ian Billinghurst and he mentioned that immature whole prey animals can be less nutrient dense. I assume he meant the super young chicks or mice vs mature ones. I am not sure if this is true or not but made me wonder, especially since the whole prey we get is not really raised the same as they would be in nature.

Yes I agree variety is key. Jericho only eats 2 of these a week. The majority of his diet is adult mice and rats. I get different sizes and different prey. There is a lot of guesswork, but I'm enjoying it so far! I'm feeding whole prey alongside a premade complete raw diet (Viva Raw).

I enjoy videos put out by reptile keepers, especially venomous snakes. These keepers have to be exceptionally clean in their keeping because snakes are not meant to be in captivity and they are very clean creatures in the wild as they are very susceptible to disease. I said all that to say this: those snake enthusiasts all feed whole prey to their animals. The whole prey (mice) are raised for this precise purpose. Some snakes take a little more coaching to get them accustomed to it, but they all seem to be thriving. Anything is better than kibble. I still feed kibble and I dread it.

I'm glad you posted this. My cousin has a red tail boa. She feeds it live mice, I think once a week? Happy Sardine Sunday!

@@edschulhof6303 lol! my cats love sardines! There must be something so satisfying to a cat when it gets fish for dinner because they always wash up and preen and purr after they eat it. Happy Sunday to you too! We're not having much success drying out after Debby but we're hanging in there!

I’m confused about the title of this video: “I stopped feeding whole prey because of this question.” Why did you title the video that? The whole video is about why you DO feed whole prey.
