Ordered a 7” for my stock 2020 chevy 2500. Returned for a 5”. Had 11.5” clearence without a load so too tight on threshold for clearence on the 7” so 5 works for all my trailers. Is a tri ball too
@woofman47962 жыл бұрын
i've had my 7 inch drop tri ball b & w hitch for 6 years now, today i ordered a 5 inch pin mount drop , i'm going to swap out my 7 inch drop, pulling our cargo trailer with our atv, plus all our camping gear, water barrels for cooking/showers, my suspension squats more then i thought it would. i could've got the 5 inch years ago and swapped it,, but as you know, life gets in the way sometimes, so today i finally said to hell with it and called b & w , they are shiping it out tomorrow, i'm in west central florida, so hopefully by saturday,, anyway,, in my humble opinion, they are the absolute best hitch you can buy,

@@HandyGuy2016 hopefully my post made sense, i have a 2016 silverado 1500 z71 off road edition, the rear suspension is stiff-ish, but it still squats with 3 barrels of water in the bed, a 1000 lb atv in the trailer etc, i didn't think of all that when i bought mine,, so that's why i finally called them today and bought the 5 inch drop, the tri ball assembly will come off, that's what that notch is for just under the receiver tube,, anyway,, stay safe ,,

I can picture that, you stay safe as well.

Did your B&W hitch come standard with the Locking pin? Mine did not. I wonder if I got screwed
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
I purchased the locking pin separately, mine did not come with it.

What is the drop distance between the ball and hitch? Or as level as you can be? I just got a BassPro bass boat and trailer and have a U Haul hitch and it is a major BCH! to keep straight when backing up! One video I watched said if the hitch is too high or low, it can have a major effect on towing. I have watched a billion U2 videos on backing up a trailor, blah, blah, blah. I did notice when backing out of my drive, I had to be dead on straight to get my trailer to pivot the way I wanted it to go. Am I missing something here?
@HandyGuy2016 Жыл бұрын
Hitch height should be adjusted so that your trailer is even front to back or just slightly higher in the front. Slightly meaning an inch higher if not even.

After a year would you recommend this htich? I also have a lawn care business I tow a 5x12 trailer stock f150
@HandyGuy20162 жыл бұрын
Definitely, I am very happy with it. I tow an 8x20 enclosed lawn care trailer and a 7x16 dump trailer with no issues.

How did you determine your rise and drop size?
@HandyGuy20163 жыл бұрын
Park by your trailer hitch, with the trailer setting level and measure from the hitch on the truck up or down to your trailer hitch.

@@HandyGuy2016 all I needed always a bigger hammer. 8 pound sledge moved it. Now just need to pick up a new one. I figure a hitch pin from the farm store should work fine.

It would be, I recommend locking pins. Not an issue in my area, but I know it is in other places.
