The thing about 90's music is that they don't worry about how cool or sexy they look. It's all about having fun, expressing yourself no matter if you don't look cool and sexy. and it translates in the music and the videos.

Andreia Guerrero You ever see a Maralin Manson, NIN or a prodigy video? They're from the 90's. This video was by a teeny pop group from Ireland, a very conservative catholic country. It doesn't represent well the debauchery that was already coming out of the UK & US at the time.

Growing up in Ireland, I and everyone I knew HATED Irish dancing, traditional Irish music etc. I mean DETESTED it. Now it seems everyone is pretending to be into it because we're on the world stage thanks to Father Ted, Riverdance and U2. Trouble is, it comes across as plastic and phony, like the Irish dancing in this video.
@pongo52715 жыл бұрын
@@Dermot2927 lmao thats kinda funny. My family are all decents from Ireland but migrated to Prince Edward island, Canada when the potato famine happened (like most of all the other basterds who live their) The people there are pretty proud of irish/Celtic music and especially the dance.

SAD_ PEACH_TREE try going to Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia! It’s considered the only surviving example of highland/Scottish culture outside of Scotland. I THINK...lol. Something along those lines. More fiddlers per capita in Nova Scotia than anyplace else in the world, I read..
@erikm83725 жыл бұрын
Twitting On Trender - I get what you mean about the phony and plastic aspect…I’ve been playing traditional Irish and Scottish fiddle for 20 years now. When I tell people what I play, the immediate reaction is something about “river-dancing” as if it’s some actual style of dance. Then they proceed to jump around stupidly as I back away slowly. I don’t know you people. Lol. Never mind the music, which is only COMPOSED in the vein of traditional Irish music. I have the Riverdance book of sheet music; there are traditional elements but there’s a lot more classical technique involved. And a lot of highly problematic keys, melodies and rhythms, if you want to talk about Irish music. One of the pieces (the main theme “Riverdance”) switches from 6/8 time to 2/4 every other bar or something crazy. It’s fun, and works for the show, but It gave me a false understanding of what Irish music was. I saw Riverdance when it first debuted and I was 10 years old. To me that was “traditional”. So when I finally picked up the fiddle I was attempting to play these insanely composed pieces (not tunes!) from the show, which were composed on piano and unrealistic for a newbie! Although the whistle was always my first instrument, and I play just as often as the fiddle…I learned in the end! Nevertheless; years later, I’d be studying BA in Irish Music and Dance from University of Limerick...Yes, I became that obsessed. It wasn’t till later I found out my Irish descendants played music (don’t know what) and were from the county Donegal. Which is my absolute diehard favorite type of Irish music! It all came out in me. Purely by chance. So as phony as it is, I guess Bwitched/Riverdance gave me a preview of my future life?! Hahaha
