The professions all feed into each other after episode 3. People at the carpentry area think all you do is cut wood to sell to the vendor not realizing you need it in episode 3 to craft your own gear.

that's the problem of this game - it doesn't tell me why should I train certain profession. Let's take RS - on tutorial island you are told that mining this and that lets you smith your own gear, fishing and cooking provides you with healing food, and burying bones gives you prayers. When I first started playing I knew I want to mine, so I can smith better and better gear. Here I fish and forage to make junk for vendor, and I would have to go through 3 episodes to find out I can actually make useful stuff?

If you want an OSRS like game try The Black Grimoire: Cursebreaker, it's single player with the exception of seeing other real players in town (Just for chatting) otherwise that one hits the cores 500% compared to boring shores lol

We needed a Runescape game that successfully utilizes modern tech. Not sure what they were thinking by basically remaking RS2 with minecraft-like blocks and isolated domains from early 2000s browser games. It's a step back from RS3 and even RS2 in some ways without the nostalgia factor of OSRS.

@ oh by that I didnt mean the setting but like not to use the shitty outdated tile system and bad graphics. The crappy engine is what is holding back RS3. Tile system sucks, tick rate sucks, graphics are getting there but no where near a normal RPG from this decade. Not only that, it’s a nightmare to develop for and that severely limits the amount of content they put out. Not to mention their servers run like shit when there’s just a few hundred people on them, let alone 1000-2000. Theyre in too deep with 25 years of RS3 content and cant convert it all to modern tech without halting new content for years. Throne and Liberty just came out and it looks great and for the most part runs great. No lag unless theres like 500+ people attacking a field boss. If we had a game like that but with the in-game systems of Runescape it would be a hit.

Faux is right about mostly negative ppl leaving reviews but at the same time the game does a pretty poor job of getting u motivated to grind, its even more demotivating when u find out every new region is a soft reset, maybe some ppl like the game, good for them, but its not for me. Gonna stick with osrs personally

Do you think RS started with all those bosses, quests and shit? It didn't. They came later. There are also bosses in the game, they're just quest based currently. That however, is a foundation for quests that drop uniques and such, as well as bosses that also drop uniques that can be added to the world later.

Honestly only the first 2 episodes being free gives you a pretty shit taste of the game, even just getting to Mines makes the systems make a little more sense. Besides alchemy nothing in the first two zones require resources from other zones. Mines gives you the gear crafting professions which require carpentry stuff. Really it feels like the game wants you to have access to all the episodes and just run through them with each main quest in the zone giving you a taste of the activities available and asking you to hit 60ish area level which is 3 professions at 20 and a total level to let you do a bit of what you want overall before getting back to the main story. Then once you're done with the main story to go back to whatever zone is your favorite and just stick with it. Notably professions take much more exp to level past 20 which is also where you unlock the ability to knowledge point boost them, each point seems to give around 25% of a level worth of exp. At the moment you can't trade materials and have to do everything yourself but once trading is available people can just grind where they like and not care about other zones.

Combat system is not even fully complete. When picking a class, you're meant to get special attacks, but they're not implemented yet.

Special attacks on OSRS is also just pressing a button, its also just sorta... watching the combat go. I agree though, it is clunky. I'd prefer to click to attack and it just attack, not ask me what weapon I want to use... just attack and if I want a different weapon, I'll change it myself
