Jordan Burroughs was so unbelievable with his takedowns, often when he was in the top position, he would sacrifice a point by conceding an escape to his opponent because he knew his opponent could not stop his takedowns. I cannot recall ever seeing a wrestler that dominant and confident in his abilities.

Story has it that it was this match that caused Jordan to start wearing a headband. Not joking, he said it was worn to protect a spot on his forehead with lots of scare tissue -- used to open up constant.

Howe was on it too though. Jordan had his strategy down, working mainly on defense and countering. But Howe was on the offense the whole fight, and I give him that, it’s so hard to draw someone in when they’re always on th defense, because it’s so easy to walk into one of their traps. Which is why Howe was taken down twice. Great physiques and effort by both men

Been watching a lot of matches Burroughs had in college. For sure mixed feelings. An obvious freak athletically. Used the edge of that mat way too often. Must have been frustrating to coach or wrestle against back then. But even more shocking that he somehow used the edge of the mat for defense in college, and transitioned into freestyle where you completely have to stay away from the edge. Not only to change the style but the pace of the matches. He was so Explosive in college but his matches took so long because of the stop and restarts from him going out of bounds and taking his time to get back to the center. Talk about evolving.
