@@MaximusWolfe iowa wrestlers have been, for decades, heavy on the head. Doesn't go beyond physical wrestling. It's a strategy employed by many to tire the opponent out or change the way they wrestle or the timing. I wrestled at Michigan. I hated getting smacked and my head yanked around. Threw my timing off. But it's a apart of the sport.

Burroughs may have squeaked out a win in the open but he won fair and square in the Trials. Stop saying Burroughs style is getting worse or he belongs in a boxing match. This is only ONE match against Dake that looked this bad. Disrespecting the King before you look at the following 2 and a half years. Dake and Burroughs round who is still counting has yet to come. @giuseppedimeo4750

Shot clock is a freestyle ,grecoroman or female wrestling rule, when a wrestler is on the shot clock he/she has 30 to score otherwise the opponent will be awarded a point (freestyle) in greco besides that the wrestler who was on the shot clock will have to lay belly down and the opponent will have the opportunity to try something like a gutwrench on him. A wrestler is put on the shot clock when there are no points scored for a big ammount of time (usually one minute and a half) and he/she is judged by the ref as the more passive of the two (usually the more passive wrestler is the one who has his/her butt closer to the orange /red zone) or if he is clearly stalling, the occasion in wich we see the shot clock the most is usually if there are no points scored after one minute and a half from the start of the match but we can see even multiple shot clocks later in the match based on how the it proceeds. I don't know about folkstyle because i never wrestled it but in freestyle greco and female when there is a tie the guy who made the action with the biggest ammount of points wins (If me and you were wrestling and the result was 4-4 with you getting one 4 pt takedown and me getting 4 one point push outs for example you would be awarded the win) if the two wrestler scored the same kind of actions too, like you see this in this bout than the last wrestler to score takes the win (even if it's a shot clock point) that's why you see Burroughs win this bout

I've never watched a wrestling match before. I'm 4:02 in and hat to check the comments to see is Burroughs is allowed to do all that shit. Is the ref meant to be watching the match? What the hell is going on?

Why is there a lot of people in the comment section talking about *"hands to the face"* like it wasn't the worst rule change in collegiate wrestling this year. Wrestling is a physical sport. Hands to the face is worst rule in college wrestling; do you guys really want to destroy Senior Level wrestling and/or International wrestling as well?

Some truth to that side of what you're saying with the rules in college getting so nit-picky, but in this case Burroughs wasn't trying to score much, especially not as much as Dake was, so it's a different problem. Dake did los a contact and obviously got poked a couple times which can be dangerous, but the real problem here was it was used to stall and was distracting from actually wrestling. Boxing is physical too but you're not supposed to hold all the time, even though a bit is allowed to counter some positioning. Too much and it should be called. Sometimes it's not.

Burroughs was using it to avoid wresting. Just clubbing Dake to the face and poke him in the eye. Should and would have been called in any other venue. You think for a second on the international scene that would have been allowed. Keep dreaming. Poor showing by Burroughs. He has rededicated himself tho so

At the time Burroughs was the poster child for US wrestling. He always got the calls and he took advantage. The hands to the face was bad enough, but Dake was placed on the shot clock three times while Burroughs was not really doing anything.

Damn Dakes lost a contact and bled but still no illegal hands to the face. I will say though, Jordan is mind-blowingly agile.
