Have you had any issues with the thumb screws falling out or becoming loose because of the vibrations? I rode my board for maybe 5 minutes and the screws locking the motor mount on to the truck became very loose without loctite, and one I even lost. And that was with fully tightening the screws. I'm sure it is a little different since there is less force on the thumb screws, but I would still think the vibrations would over a short period of time loosen them to falling out.

Eric Engman I know this is old, but yes. I have lost a couple. If I tighten them as tight as I can then they don’t come out.

Where can I get the screws you used to mount the enclosure to the deck? Can you post a link plss

Mikey Tongson which ones? The wood inserts, silver hex head, or the brass thumb screws?

Are these the inserts you've used?: www.homedepot.com/p/The-Hillman-Group-10-24-Wood-Insert-Nut-880548/202242361 Are they really 10mm outside diameter? Cuz the bit you've used to drill the holes didn't seem like 1cm thick drill...
@barnes_specialty7 жыл бұрын
Paulus Germanus Yes, those are the same inserts. I don't have any extra laying around, but the outside diameter without the thread is close to 7mm. I measured the ones screwed into my deck. They are probably 10mm OD at the widest including the thread. If you drilled a 10mm hole you would have nowhere for the thread to grab. A ~7mm drill bit would be best. Or measure the hardware and determine the best drill bit size.

You said it yourself, brass is soft and tends to break. You didn’t think that seemed like an issue? Whatever you use, if it breaks just trying to get it into the board, probably not a good idea.... anybody who really wants to learn about this stuff should check out the builders forum. Eskate news forum or electric skateboard builders forum although I think the latter will prob shut down soon as the company hosting it went bankrupt. Either way, that’s where you learn how to do this stuff properly. Good enough is rarely good and if there is a possibility of mechanical failure you have a responsibility as someone posting for the public to not guide people in the wrong direction. Good job on the diy enclosure, not so much on the mounting tutorial.

Has one ever broken, No. How about you do something useful and contribute to the community instead of providing useless feedback. This board has run well over 200 miles without problems. I see you have no content on your youtube channel. Are you referring to electric-skateboard.builders the forum that is run by the failure known as Enertion? Keep your mouth shut if you have nothing positive to say.
@doriandolinajec66014 жыл бұрын
Barnes'd it broke when you were putting it in. On film. With a screw driver and not the way way way more intense forces that will be put on it when riding. If it hasn’t broken yet it’s shear luck. My post is “contributing” to the community Caus it guides people in the directions where they can learn safely and properly how do to things. Cuz eyeballing shit as you go is def not the way to do shit. You switched your technique halfway through, like you weren’t even sure what you were doing. Not good man. Like I said, nice job on the diy enclosure tho! 😁 . They also make steel versions of these inserts which imo are the way to go. So, to recap figure out what you want to do before you start filming. If it breaks while your installing it probably doing something incorrectly. When someone directs people to an actual builders forum where they can learn how to do things correctly and where they can access hundreds if not thousands of people’s knowledge to gain insight and learn, that is a contribution, much more so than posting a video of freehand slop hoping people will stroke your ego due to your massive insecurities. Which by the way are blatantly apparent based on your very emotional response. Byyyyye!
