I used in a composition of mine an 8-note strange scale which combines the Arabic tetrachords Kurd + Hijaz : C#, D, E, F#, G, Ab, B, C (nat.). I cannot yet find the name of this scale/mode listed in any of my references. Do you know the name of this scale and to which culture it belongs? Thanks in advance for any help.

hello, I found it but there is no welknown/common handpan scale with such notes -> ianring.com/musictheory/scales/3307 . Would you like to share one of your composition with such scale ?

@@Shellopan Many thanks indeed. I was aware of Ian Ring's website /KZbin chnl, yet I forgot his name until you wrote it. My composition isn't for handpan, I am afraid; yet while I was searching for the mixture of Kurd+ Hijaz, I came at your video on KZbin, hence my question. I revised the scale (for better or worse) by changing it to an Mela Senavati on B (B, C, D, Eb, F#, G, Ab, B). As a humble gesture of thanks, I would recommend the following raga website : www.ragasurabhi.com/carnatic-music/ragas.html especially the ragas which has some similar pitch-elements (trichords, tetrachords or pentachords) to Arabic scales. Perhaps you might like also to read my short article on this, with examples at my website: saedhaddad.com/writings/How_the_study_of_Carnatic_Raga_influenced_my_contemporary_Western_compositions.pdf Many thanks again for your kind reply. May be one day I compose something for Handpan; an instrument that I have not yet used in my contemporary compositions, therefore it is of particular attraction and of great interest to me.
