Welcome to part 2 of the Back to Basics, in this video, I will be showing you step by step how I do my sugar washes that I use for in-home distillation.
The recipe I used is as follows:
5kg Pure cane sugar
16l of Water
1 TBS of Citric acid
10g of Super Nutrient
5g of DAP
You can use any nutrient that you want.
If you will like to get your hand on some of the stuff I use the links below...

Nice one again. A couple of other options for PH buffering are calcium carbonate (I use this) and oyster shells. Either whole oyster shells if you live near a beach or know a restaurant owner and you can also get ground shells as they are used as an additive to chicken food. As for nutrients, I tend to use DAP but have used a few crushed multi vitamin tablets and a mushed up banana in the past and that actually worked quite well.

I most of the time don’t use nutrients but have started using fermado in my all grain wash’s it for me tends to help with clarity.

DADY works great with Grain as well. Noticed the way my setup is, that it gives a subtle fruit note to my single malts

Excellent video! I see a lot of people on Reddit subs really struggling with stalled sugar ferments. Inverting the sugar is an excellent idea to help with flavor, and the quality of the finished product.

Great video! I was thinking about trying this to make dandelion wine and wonder how well that would work. Have you ever tried it?

Great series. Thanks for sharing. Would you consider doing a series on different yeast strain comparison using the same mash bill. I need to venture away from DADY and could use some info. Thanks

Can citric acid be substituted by lemon juice? If so, what would be the suger/lemon juice ratio?
