This is one of the best things you could ever watch. Everybody on the stage is performing at peak levels of commitment, ability, artistry, and feeling, and the way they connect and communicate with each other and with the audience is joyful.

The biggest problem with music like this is it makes most other music seem shallow and stupid. It’ll completely spoil you. What an emotional performance. This is music in its purist form. We won’t see the like of this again I’m afraid.

I'd NEVER have thought about these musicians performing together... curious how it came about. All top notch. Metheny was just 25 years old then - not sure how well known (I only learned about him after Wichita Falls).. if I'd heard that Free Man in Paris solo live, I'd have thought "WOW.. who is this guy". Now all gone but Joni and Pat.

The fact that this video has less than one thousand views is a musical injustice! There are only a handful of true genius artists and persons of Renaissance in the late 20th/21st century...and even fewer women. Joni is right there without equal! I saw Joni in 1983 at Poplar Creek (now Tinley Park) for Wild Things Run Fast. I think it cost me $12 or $15 (the going rate in those days) for a pretty good seat because I recall that I could see Joni was impeccably dressed in the highest of fashions for that time all the way to her buttons and zippers. And for $12-15?! Watching this concert video and remembering experiencing a live performance for myself, I was thinking that she played for nearly 2 hours, smoked throughout the show and throughout her life but sounded amazing, and as far as concerts go I'd count it as one of the best concert values ever. Like with Aretha Franklin, you just cannot capture Joni on an album, you can only lose a lot when you try to confine her to those grooves.

Not. Much. Of. A. Joni. Fan? Name a more talented modern female musician: writing x composing x singing x playing x prolificity. She doesn't exist. Joni is numero uno.

Dear Braddock What a strange comment to this fantastic concert. It's Joni's band! She wrote and composed all these great songs. She chose all musicians, she chose Jaco to support her not wise versa. His play on Edith and the Kingpin on Hejira and other songs is great, His solo is in places silly. I skip it four out of five times. Joni went off stage and let the boy play. Thank you Joni for this fantastic live performance. I love you.
