@@user-vt4hd8hb4vI don't know that's what they're talking about. Bob Dylan is just not very well musically trained. That doesn't mean his singing is bad, the end result is great as it is and also it's kind of his style. People like it. But in this footage he is clearly struggling. Also, I think this doesn't have anything to do with how "big" he is. He's one of the greatest but his real strength lies more in poetry than in making music. It's kind of like putting a talented high school big band member into a top symphony orchestra, they're just not on the same musical level but they would probably still make great music together.

As much as I can't stand Dylan's voice, there are two things I appreciate here: 1. Dylan's feelings of insecurity and vulnerability around more talented singers. 2. Abhishek Pathak Everyone knows Bobby’s a good songwriter, but his style of singing is unfamiliar to most people and often misunderstood. He’s much more comfortable singing folk or country, not pop. I always frame it as he’s a fantastic singer but a lacking vocalist. An example of being near perfect at both is someone like Paul McCartney or Harry Nilsson.
@danielarshad54234 жыл бұрын
1. Dylan has no reason to be insecure. He's proven himself to be a "talented" singer several times. How many of the pop stars in that room, however, could do what Dylan does? Put pen to paper and write a song halfway as powerful as, say, Visions of Johanna? 2. He's Bob Fucking Dylan. Of course everyone respected him to no end. It seems your idea of talent runs parallel with how many rules the artist at hand follows to a T, like a good old choir boy. Give me a break. I'd rather listen to Dylan croak out his poetry in the voice of a grandma gargling granite than hear any of the myriad minstrels who could hit all the notes while singing fast food music.

"I'm a Dylan fan, but this is an ill conceived nostalgia award wrenched from the rancid prostates of senile, gibbering hippies." (Scottish novelist Irvine Welsh). "Bob Dylan winning a Nobel in Literature is like Mrs Fields being awarded 3 Michelin stars." (Lebanese novelist Rabih Alameddine). However others noted that poetry has long been recognized, focused on the underlying merit of Dylan's award, and speculated that the popularity of Dylan's work was behind those objecting. "To me, [the Nobel] is like pinning a medal on Mount Everest for being the highest mountain." (songwriter Leonard Cohen). "I love that the novel committee opens up for other kinds of literature - lyrics and so on. I think that's brilliant." (Norwegian writer Karl Ove Knausgård). ..........
