Corona is not at fault for this. There are many other things killing way more people worldwide (Poverty, for one, kills MILLIONS every year.) They don't care about those. They care about corona, because "caring" about it makes the the richest people richer, and everyone else poorer. Wait and see how much worse the economy will have permanently become for most people after the efforts against corona spread have ended.
