Warning! Don't use this video for real flying on real airplane. The purpose of that video is just to get you fimiliar with CDU preflight and may be used to play the flight simulators like PMDG model in Prepare3D or ZIBO model in X-Plane. I might do some of mistakes because I am alone here and I am not in real airplane. FMC is used as pilot interface to communicate with airplane itself. I hope to see great airplane models in new 2020 Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Another great video. As a private pilot with IFR and twin engine rating, it’s fun to hear and watch what the commercial procedures are! (I have a Cirrus SR22T. Trying to see if I can work out upgrading to the Vision Jet in the next year!)

I've made sure again that with a good explanation even complex things become very simple. For me, the CDU setup was like magic with a lot of unknown letters and digits. But after this video, it looks very logical and understandable) Thank you very much, captain!

Hello. Very interesting and useful video. I use X-Plane 11 for simulating flights and I have found out some interesting and new information. However, I have several questions. What do we put in FLT NO.? I mean ICAO code or IATA? Or it doesn’t matter? For example AUI777 or PS777? Next question is not connected with CDU. But I also would like to get answer. It is about Autobrakes on B737. What is the difference between RTO and MAX? I know when we use it. But what is the difference in effort? And what is happening with pneumatics when they go off? When do we use positions 1-3? I have heard that Ryanair use the maximum effort of auto brakes every time)). The last point is that BRP VOR/DME will be closed for maintenance soon, if I got it right. Do we have to tune to 115.9 on FO radio panel during this period of time? Waiting for your new videos :)

Wow, thanks for your comment. I will try to answer some. 1) We put AUI... in CDU. 2) RTO is for rejected take off, MAX is for landing. 3) I am in doubt that Ryanair land with MAX setting all the time. I personally used it just once... 4)VOR/DME doesn't play great role in navigation nowadays. Both of NAVs are set for ILS during the approach. You can put VOR/DME as standby. Now there are mostly RNAV STARS, that doesn't require VOR/DME. So I don't see any issues with that in KBP airport. Thank you for your support!

What is the purpose of entering flight number? It is only for you or does it have a broader meaning?)) About Autobrakes. What exactly is the difference and what is the distance when braking RTO and MAX? Can we taxi normally after going RTO off? About VOR/DME is all clear, thank you for explanation. @@corsik737 Артём, конечно ты меня не "bothering" 😂. Просто информация настолько объёмная, что я тут не смогу ответить, поэтому попытался кратко сказать что мы делаем.... AUI-название рейса, вернее ident компании, выдаваемый ИКАО. В СDU мы забиваем этот ident, и диспетчер видит нас на радаре как AUI, поэтому нас иногда путают по позывным с Austrian. По тормозам, ну это очень обширная тема. Дистанция не выбирается, выбирается уровень замедления самолёта. Дистанция зависит от веса самолёта, от состояния полосы, от температуры и многих других факторов. Дистанцию мы считаем на специальной программе Боинга, которая у нас есть на планшетах. Там уже решаем какое значение Autobrake выбрать исходя из фактических условий. На взлёт всегда RT0, это обеспечивает автоматическое срабатывание тормозов при прерванном взлёте на скоростях более 90 узлов. При этом генерируется максимальное автоматическое торможение. При положении МАХ тоже генерируется максимальное автоматическое торможение, но уже для пробега после посадки. Там ещё есть связь с реверсом в зависимости от положения селектора. Но всё равно максимальное усилие пилотов (при полном обжатии педалей) выше, чем может дать RTO или MAX. Мы можем рулить после RTO, однако надо проверить таблицу по "охлаждению тормозов", brake cooling schedule. Долгое руление однако не охлаждает тормоза, а наоборот ещё больше их нагревает... Там много всего ещё есть по теме тормозов и не факт, что я всё знаю, Боинг всегда присылает апдейты и бюллетени ро системам, это непрекращающийся процесс... Думаю мне нужна рубрика "ответы на вопросы", где я смогу ответить в видео... Без обид, сорри, если что не так... Спасибо за вопросы!👍

Pilot Blog Денис, все отлично. Спасибо вам огромное, что ответили. Теперь everything is clear (вроде бы))).Да, точно, не правильно задал вопрос я немного, понятно, что дистанция - не константа, а переменная и зависит как раз от того, что вы сказали. Ещё раз спасибо большое, что уделили время)). Просто я сейчас немного на другой специальности - авиаинженерия. Однако пилотом тоже очень хочу стать, но это в будущем. А пока кроме симов ничего поделать не могу, вот мне и не терпится узнать всего по больше - как для реализации в симе, так и для осуществления своей мечты))). Но я не просто так задаю вопросы, опять же. Все стараюсь намотать на ус, а не пропустить, как лекции по экономике (хотя они тоже иногда нужны). По поводу рубрики - я только за! У меня есть друзья, увлекающееся авиацией так же, как и я, и я думаю у них тоже найдутся вопросы)). Причём это будут вопросы не «А какая у тебя зарплата? А почему отходы не падают с эшелона, а их откачивает наземное оборудование?» или подобное, а что-то такого плана, как я спрашиваю и даже интереснее. Я думаю было бы прикольно обдумать и заранее подготовить вопросы. Но снова таки, надо подумать, чтобы вопросы были хорошие))). Хочу пожелать развития вашего канала! Очень классные и интересные видео)). Вас действительно интересно смотреть. Вы правильно делаете, что объясняете все в деталях - приятно смотреть думаю как далеким от темы авиации, так и энтузиастам. И очень хорошо, что на английском (прямо learn up происходит во время просмотра 😂👍).

Not sure if you know, but if you click the yoke at the top where the trim scale is, it will lower the yokes out of your way so you can see the displays better.

Hello Den, could you please make a short video with CDU key presses in real aircraft? I really need to see amount of button travel and chick sound. I make a CDU for my sim flights and really want to make it as close to real unit as possible. The problem is I don't know what type of switches (I mean actual electrical switches under buttons) used in real CDU. And one more question - is CDU case made of plastic or aluminium?

Interesting video, thank you) I have a few small question: - Does MCDU contain information about all airports? - If your plane has more fuel than you need before flying do you fly with what you have or some kind of remove extra fuel can be performed?

When "cheating" for derate you selected a higher temperature than reality. Then I expect the computer to select a higher power setting because the thin hot air is not favourable for take off. How come we see the opposite?

It reduces the trust to reduce Exhaust gas temperature.

Hi Denis, I am a Boeing 737 pilot and I must say that I love your videos, coming from Airbus to Boeing it really helps me out to get up to speed. btw since Canada is wide open to Ukrainians why not migrate here? there are plenty of opportunities for B737. I hope you get to see my message.
