They were flying North, so the snow capped mountain (Volcano) in the distance, is Mt. Baker. Mount Rainier is to the South. Along with Mt. Saint Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, Three Sisters etc. If you ever fly into Seattle from the East, get a window seat on left side of the plane. If it's a clear day, you will see all the volcanos I mentioned.

The 777 was back when Boeing still put quality and engineering before Wall Street profit. The Seattle area is indeed beautiful.
@BernhardSchwarz-xs8kp
@BernhardSchwarz-xs8kp 3 ай бұрын
Blame Wall Street for the "quality of the operation" of Boeing for its failures. And conveniently forget about why Boeing has moved its HQ years ago out of Seattle. The same Union is having a go at it again. Since their outrageous "demands" were not accepted - QUALITY ISSUES become conveniency a MONEY problem again.

I didn’t know about the polarized sunglasses thing. I learned something new today.😊
@ethancrosby2573
@ethancrosby2573 8 ай бұрын
This is a simplifications, but what basically happens is the polarizer on the display and the polarization of the sunglasses are not necessarily the same orientation. If they are opposite, you can't see anything. If they are the same, you can see normally. There is no "standard" for if a polarizer is vertical or horizontal. You can test this with a pair of sunglasses and any polarized LCD display (like in your car or a watch). If the display is black with sunglasses on, turn your head 90 degrees and you will be able to see the display just fine. The polarization of LCDs is necessary for their function, without them, you wouldn't see any clear image. It's not strictly for glare-reduction although they do do that a little.

Really liked your editing, insertion of maps, bridges etc, airport layouts, and checklists. You showed what happened and where it happened during the process. It was very interesting/instructional for someone like me who has a peripheral interest in aviation mostly from an operational/systems/procedural point of view rather than an actual love of flying. It would only be more interesting if I understood French :). Thanks for all the effort in putting it together.

Actually a north departure is fairly common for morning time flights which this one seems to be based on the Sun light. I was hoping for a time of day but it appear to be morning. I'm not entirely sure around what time it switches to southbound departures. I went on vacation recently and it was also northbound departure in the morning

Two things in a really great video. 1. KPAE was where the jet being flown in this video was made. 2. Pilots don't wear polarized sunglasses in a glass-cockpit aircraft (it means the plane has computer screens rather than traditional gauges as its instruments) because of the screens' antiglare coatings. It's because an LCD is itself a polarizer. If you wear polarized sunglasses while looking at a polarized display, there is a very good chance the polarization of the glasses and the display will clash...and you'll see nothing on the screen.

The north take off seems to be normal during the summer months. I live about 4 miles north of I90 in Sammamish, during the summer sitting in the backyard, we see many planes heading east, probably passing to the north of mount Rainer. During the winter we can occasionally see the planes flying in to land from the north. We also occasionally have a plane flying north toward Paine field. Usually it’s a UPS plane.

Ive flown in 777 in and out of SeaTac many times. I used to live near the Boeing plant and Paine Field. Thats a cool airport to a lot of military aircraft. I love how detailed, and informative this video is. Definitely earned a subscriber

I'm just starting the process of becoming an airline pilot, started studying last month. Its been my dream for a long time, and my first ever trip abroad was from my hometown in Seattle to Paris to visit the birthplace of my grandmother. Really enjoyed this video
