I'm very impressed with you. Don't ever stop vocalizing everything you are supposed to do. It is a great habit and a part of operating as a crew. If she is going to fly with you a lot, consider teaching her how to change frequencies, altitudes, etc. My wife is not a pilot, but I have taught her to work as an SIC. I also have her fly as much as possible before I turn the autopilot on. Hopefully, if something ever happens to me, my wife can run the FMS and land the jet.

ATC saying "I didn't see him either" is concerning, but the condescending "talk on the phone" by the other pilot does no good for anyone. Deal with it when you're on the ground.
@infectdiseaseepidemiology259919 күн бұрын
ATC does not hesitate saying “possible pilot deviation” while giving a phone number to call. The pilot would be justified saying “possible controller deviation” and giving a number.
@rickdc37 күн бұрын
If he was VFR, and without ADS-B, ATC might not see him well. Not their fault or responsibility.
@TheBgCreations7 күн бұрын
@@rickdc3 dumb question… is that legal? Someone can fly an aircraft without squawking or letting anyone know they’re up?
@rickdc36 күн бұрын
@@TheBgCreations It depends on the airspace and the airplane. In the vast majority of the US airspace below 10,000 feet, a transponder is not required and you don't have to talk to anyone. ADS-B is so cheap now, I think the FAA needs to change the rules and make it mandatory for all aircraft, in all airspace, at all altitudes. My glider (with no source of electrical power other than batteries) has a transponder with ADS-B, so there is no reason anymore for it to not be a requirement. I'm changing airports soon and I'm nervous about the crop-dusters at the new airport that don't have transponders or ADS-B. Near Phoenix International, you need a transponder, but if you are below the Bravo Airspace, you don't need to talk to anyone (and their are SO MANY trainers because of all the flight schools in the area, that ATC can't possibly track them all in real time and do separation. That is why in visual conditions, you have to look and avoid traffic yourself).

I can remember back in the early 80's coming from Frankford going to Logan in a 747-200 and we got into turbulence and looking out at the wing tips, it looked like the wings were flapping like the wings on a bird. We had a lot of sick folks when we landed in Boston...and of course (with some of the passengers), it was all my fault. Fly safe in that little jet and it looks double cool.

It never rains in Arizona, those girls will only warn ya' borrowing a song line b4 I met my newlywed wife, who worked for a foreign airline tourist office 30 years ago, I've loved flying since I was five years old in '66, my wife gave me a free ride certificate for Christmas in 05, since light sport came out. I only got my student license to fly recreationally, since there are ways to fly especially with wet rentals ahd flying out of airports outside of Sky Harbor's airspace. Your channel is enjoyable, listening to ATC, it is wonderful you have found someone like those of my nuclear family that loves flying with you. The Cirrus is a cool jet, but I have only flown it using the current Microsoft Flight Simulator. I beta tested Microsoft's old flight simulator and for my Light Sport CFI in '06 i made an Allegro 2000 add-on, which I still have for a 25yo computer I built, so he could use it for his flying school, Mesa's Falcon aviation.

My 3 year goal is to become type rated in the Cirrus Vision Jet. So believe me, I am watching your every move as you fly in your videos and my wife will watch your videos with me and I keep saying, "I'm that guy in 3 years" and my wife will say, "yes I know, you said it 100 times already". So thanks for the inspiration !! I do have 3 quick questions {1} in a "dead stick" situation, what is the CVJ glide ratio ?? {2} I'm puzzled as to why CVJ pilots {that I've seen in videos} don't have a 600 AGL verbal call out - I would think that would be pretty important to acknowledge verbally 600 AGL. {3} Would you be able to in future videos give the viewer TAS/GS/IAS checks while at cruise - plus final destination distance and block times would be great as well. Thanks !!
