It is unclear where exactly Ba Gua is from! Apparently an Anonymous Taoist taught it to Dong Hai Chuan! But, Wu Dang Mountain in West Central China is said to be the birthplace of the Internal Art of Chinese Gong Fu like Tai Chi, Xing Yi, and Ba Gua!

It is totally clear where Bagua is from , it is from Tung Hai Tsuan, it was perpetuated by his top students. There are lineages, don't talk about what you don't know fakie lacie.

Your comment about connected to the ground is correct, but you then said "bend the legs" which is not how to connect. Connection happens at the kua. The knees bend in response.

The style of Martial Arts doesn't matter. The most important thing is the person teaching it! Don't forget the teacher or master or sensei or whatever is not a God and is a normal person! Find someone who is talented, in good shape, fun, and has morals that you agree with! Then, go for it!!!

Actually, I am hearing some very good stuff in this video. The narrator shows great potential - he is still very muscular and athletic but his body will eventually relax, sink and proceed. We've all started on a path like this, particularly if you first studied something like karate - pretty well everybody who comes to Ba Gua has done other things. We just have adjust to the new reality, depending where we came from in the first place...

How tall someone is or how much someone may bend their knee to get lower to the ground has nothing to do with root. I can stand up perfectly straight and have more root than someone who is in the lowest horse stance, b/c I am sunken and rooted internally.

Actually sir, Bagua can trace its roots to Guanghua Mt and the monks there. I lived at Wudang and they don't claim to be the originators of anything other than Tai Chi. :) Don't mean that in a rude or harassing way though, the origin of Bagua is something I have been digging into lately.

I don't know much about "Baguazhang"(just seen it preformed in the movie "The Grandmaster" aka Grandmasters) however, I did read an E-Book called "Baguazhang The Complete System Vol.1" by Erle Montaigue. He didn't show the 64 Hands just the basics though still its a very good book on internal style(like the "Dragon Form") I seen some of that in Jake's videos!

He didn't say he studied Ba Gua for years, just taijiquan. My friend has studied tai chi for a few years and never knew about ba gua until I told him about it. I agree though that this video doesn't seem very traditional but there can always be tweaks to old styles. Why is his kung fu any better or worse than yours just because his is non traditional ba gua?

6:02... bagua will keep you focused during a zombie apocalypse. Holy shit. Or... you can just learn focus by playing a video game. Wait...because he is implying that you can spend years training bagua to achieve the mental focus of a kid in a restaurant playing a video game (and that kid did NO training) simultaneously saying that kid will be disturbed by nothing but bagua will let you be aware of everything around you...completely opposite of the kid example. Jeez, I'm really confused.
