Shrav P Tamilnadu was rich in three major things in those times. 1. Navy, which Cholas used to conquer till Indonesia, Sumatra, even Java. 2. Ayurvedic siddha which is still practiced. 3. Organised Army which they used to conquer till Ganga. and a city named Gangaikonda solapuram was established. Even during the freedom struggle Tamilnadu was not behind in making a Mark. Tirupur Kumaran died holding the flag when he was 16. Kamarajar led the freedom struggle and his ways were later supported by Congress. A salt March to vedaranyam also took place here similar to Dandi March. Kohinoor was in the treasury of Chittoor before it was taken by British. Gupta's, Mauryas, Sultanate, Mughal all the big empires which conquered almost whole of our country could not conquer this part. History is rich but people bend it to their wishes. Yes, I am an Indian and I know how much we paid for the freedom we breathe. Based on twenty years of research and practice in Kerala, this study traces how kalarippayattu is a mode of cultural practice through which bodies, knowledge, powers, agency, selves, and identities are constantly repositioned. kalarippayattu is one of India's traditional martial and medical arts dating from at least the 8th century AD. Nairs of Kerala (The warrior castes) are customary to practice Kalaris at the young age itself and later the King or Lord will give them the sword and they take an oath to” protect the King, temple, Brahmins, land and cows” Other castes like Chekavas from Thiyyas, Nadars, some Christian Panillaar families and some Muslim families, Kalarikurupp sects among Kaniyans etc. also practiced Kalaripayattu, and Kalari Vaidhyam. Nadars, Maravas practised marmmaadi and some indigenous techniques later become thekkan style the unique southern dronambolli style was virtually non-existent now after the collapse of southern Nair kingdoms,i.e. Thekkamcoor, Vadakkancoore and Odanad kingdoms, And finally, the British ban the Kalari practice and Nair custom of holding swords after the Pazhsi Raja’s and Veluthami Delava’s revolts in 19th Century.

Then tell me the names of famous kalaripayattu gurus of tamilnadu.... even british banned kalaripayattu in kerala in early 18thcentury..(after britain captured northern kerala from Tippu sultan of Mysore in1792 and shot dead so many Kalaripayatyu malayali gurukals ).. our gurus preserved kalaripayattu secretly.... we have famous kalaripayattu gurus in kerala even b4 500years such as "thacholi odenan", "aaromal chekavar" and a famous lady fighter named "unniarcha" and so on..... there kalaripayattu centres are still preserved and their decendants and families of those gurus can be seen in today itself if u go to kannur, kozhikode districts of kerala Kalaripayattu is two style martial art vadakan kalari and thekkan kalari.... Vadakkan kalari means northern kerala style of kalaripayattu and thekkan means southernkerala style of kalaripayattu........

I am glad 🙂 to know this information and purpose. I started with Japanese 🥋including my daughters. We didn’t complete due to finances. Being single mothers taking school 🏫, supplies for everything they need and self, self improvement are difficult. I would like to go back into learning the Katas however my ankle injured still no good. I love the defense techniques in martial art, it’s fun. I don’t remember much or maybe 🤔.
