In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Defect. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. 2:34 can Whetstone even upgrade newly added attacks? I've literally never had that happen in over 300 hours of StS, which makes me wonder if the attacks Whetstone upgrades are pre-determined (unless you only have 1 attack in the deck and then add the 2nd attack for it to upgrade).

There might be a predetermined aspect to it. Like how you don't get another card reward when you get the +card reward relic.

​@@NiytoI believe Question Card specifically states future card rewards due to the cards having already being generated at the time the Card Drop and relic being shown. If it didn't have that caveat the three cards would show, you could pick up the QC and four new card rewards would appear, not the three original and one new card.

What is card mastery? I keep hearing that in your videos but i'm clueless.(i have a little over 60 hrs)

He’s doing a special self imposed challenge where he “masters” cards. Meaning he defeats the Ascension 20 heart with at least 2 copies of any given card. The challenge ends when he’s done so with every card available in the game (including curses)

Math check at 59:30? Capa+, Consume: 6 slots x 3; 5 x 5; 4 x 7; 3 x 9 Capa, Consume+: 5 slots x 3; 4 x 6; 3 x 9; 2 x 11 But Capa+ requires more orb plays to fill and evokes less often. Maybe a wash?

itd be 2x12 for the consume+. but consume+ is better because it takes less time to get to 3 orb slots which is where he wants to be at. Also, he got like capicator like 5 or so times in battle after upgrading the consume

I believe he was doing the math for frost orbs and not lightning. In which case 3 x 8 is the highest for both of them.

It’s funny because the same reason Baalor was praising the game for having new builds show up is the same reason I criticize it, displayed perfecty at the end. This deck exists on quite a few of defect runs, you simply don’t go it because the poor design of act 4 all but guarantees it cannot win

I actually find it very interesting, I get to see what tricks he uses in order to figure out what the enemies are doing. I get to learn things like the go for the eyes trick, or what enemies have what base attack values. I would have underblocked many times in that collector fight for not knowing the attack values.
