In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. This was a very interesting run. Most runs I see on the channel look easy or almost easy, but this one was TOUGH. It was interesting seeing Baalorlord struggle against weird card pick rng, with Perfected Strikes and such.

That's A20 in a nutshell for me. I've had decks not really come together until the last few floors, and I almost always need every advantage. I think I only won my last Clad run because I got an Incense Burner at the end and accidentally set it up right for the Heart.

learning tha tIronclad cannot get out of A1 starter fights damageless is probably one of the best things for improving my skill with him, as I struggle a lot with the character.

The Burning Blood starter relic goes a long way. With Ironclad, you will regularly ask yourself "should I do damage instead of block this turn?", and often the answer is yes. In the Jaw Worm fight for example, a decent rule of thumb is to not play excess defends. So if Jaw Worm is attacking for 12, as it often does, play two defends, block for 10. Don't bother playing the 3rd defend, because it's only saving 2 hp. If you do damage early, instead of block, it may save you from a 17 hit or 22 hit later. You can just heal the smaller hits, but not the big ones.

I just fixed Metallicize…. In my almost asleep state…. Make it a searing blow style card. You can upgrade it as many times as you like. Fixed. It’s good early and late. It always only goes up by 1. Or maybe 1 per act if it’s too weak.. 1 in act 1 campfires 2 in act 2 campfires.. so on.. that would be such an amazing fix.

IMO, so many had gone wrong for this deck, despite the lucky streak of multiple P.Strikes in a row -way too many cards with way too little card draw for better Armaments value and earlier Apotheosis -way too little scaling in either offense or defense, with neither P.Strikes nor Heavy Blades and Strength closing out fights quickly -gloriously terrible draw order throughout basically the entire run, though deck being diluted with bad cards was more the issue Had it not for Torii and Lizard Tail and White Beast Statue, this run would've been downright impossible. Certainly felt like it was weird to keep taking cards with so little card draw, the deck felt so diluted, made me feel sick.

Hey Baalor I was wondering if you would use Smoke Potion in Act 4, not to skip the heart since that is a glitch and is not allowed for streaking (I am pretty sure), but just to skip shield and spear?

You can't smoke bomb while surrounded, so you would have to kill shield or spear before you could smoke bomb, and at that point, the fight is usually already won anyway.

At 51:33 Oddly, the order was 1) Gain 3 max HP, 2) Take 13 spikes damage, 3) Gain 5 armor. The rage didn't help.

The relic Dead Branch (adds a random card to your hand when a card is exhausted) interacts with the card Exhume (retrieve an exhausted card). What happens if you keep exhausting and retrieving Exhume? A. The game will stop you after a certain number of loops. B. Dead Branch keeps generating cards indefinitely. C. Exhume can’t be retrieved more than once per turn.

That was a really mediocre deck due to just bad luck. But pulled it off due to the amount of HP and insightful play. Very nice.
