Few things: Declare Heera Mandi world UNESCO heritage site so it has protected status Convert it into global sex tourism hub like Amsterdam Do welfare work for prostitutes like teaching them about safe sex, saying no, not letting them be harassed and attacked, knowing their rights, teaching them about how to conduct business and pay tax, staying in good shape, regular checks for STDs and free education for their children from childhood all the way to university The objective is that the girls should be able to say with pride that they work in heera mandi and be appreciated and adored for it

A woman with a will (other than to protect a father, man, or nation) has been a Tawaif, or Geisha etc. In my opinion, they were stronger than 99% men who killed her, hated her, admired her, or went crazy for her. It is unfortunate that being fascinated by one's skills and individualy was undermined as 'service' rather than talent. In all honesty, I don't think it's all men, but also their women who created such classification to intimidate their men by creating such derogatory classification. Of course, the amazing individuality and independence rendered them to be their own masters, unlike the women in a house (rich or poor). I am pretty sure both men and women were envious equally and created such segregation. Nonetheless, what we often trample under our feet is a seed, that springs into life up to that a mesmerising flower. Point is, shayari aside (jitne bhi kayal ho sayari ke hum) Talent will find a way amd won't mind leaving the rest to find their own ways of self-validation (aab woh sahi ho ya nahi, survival reigns supreme)

His words, his voice, the way he describes and background music, takes you back in time and you can almost feel it around you the sensation of the incidents. Loved the video. But small correction, prostitution was treated with respect and institutionalised way before Nawabs :) they were treated as government servants and also received fixed salaries from the kings. I admit that patriarchy always existed no matter what period. I agree with you that tawaifs, devdasis or nautch ladies were mistreated and disrespected after the English has occupied. Whether it was Nawabs or other Hindustani rulers, they were all treated with respect especially for their art! Edit: I forgot to mention how beautifully and delicately you described women. You got a new subscriber!

Institutionalized does not mean this was a profession that women coveted! They were always forced into this profession by leering men!
@Babujidheerechalna5 ай бұрын
@@criticsensible8262 yes and no. Sometimes it was forced by their families as part of “tradition” sometimes it was men who’d cheat them and force them into it. In some cases, women just accepted their fate seeing their mothers/aunts. End of the day, they were exploited no matter what.

Good evening. Aslamoalaikum. I just saw your video here and also one on Suno Chanel. It was just my pleasure and really amazing. I have been in Lahore, also as bahar wala from 1987 to 2003 before to move in Canada. I used to live in Baghbanpura area as was studying in Baghbanpura college and later in University. After got a chance to live around Gawalamandi area as I have worked for King Edward Medical college of that time, as now know as University. At that time I lived at Hall Road residence and got a chance to explore actually androon Lahore more. I love your work and considered you are also asset of Pakistan who is doing great job to show the true picture and history of Lahore. I really like that conversation where chopra sahib was angry with you being talking in English. I am getting same ideology here to talk in Punjabi instead of English whenever meeting with Indian Punjabis and doesn’t matter how much professional they or we are. Coming Lahore in couple of months Insha Allah and would love to meet you if you got some free time at that time.
