It does help maintain peace if both peoples speak the same tongue (mutually understandable different dialects) !

The dialect they speak is the same (and maybe traditionally only different from street to street). The accent they use for standard Dutch might be different, as is the case between the Netherlands and Belgium.

It all started when the landlord of a church claimed lands there. The one who already possessed them, only gave him the lands of the non cultivated parcels. And that's how it all started. All the enclaves you see there are the exact shapes of those lands 900 years ago

Marijuana is legal in Holland, the more reason I think this crazy border exists.
