I watched this video when it first came out in 2013 and have always wanted to visit Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog and yesterday, 15/06/2023, I finally got the chance to do that. The town is also surprisingly accessible, with the bus line 132 from either Breda or Tilburg (the Netherlands, a 40-minute ride away) and line 450 from Turnhout (Belgium). Unfortunately, it was for less than 30 mins because I had my flight from Schipol, over 2 hours away by public transport. Still, in that time, I managed to cross the Dutch-Belgian border around 10 times, sometimes not being fully aware as to which of the two countries I was located in and standing in front of a Dutch house with a lamp post claiming to be in Belgium, in front of a Belgian church full of Belgian flags. The people are also very friendly and speak perfect English and I can safely say that these were the best 30 minutes of my trip!

I just looked up the India-Bangladesh enclaves and the third order enclave seems to be uninhabited (26°08'53.3"N 88°45'44.9"E). Just a piece of land with grass and trees. Worst case would have been if it was an apartment building with the border police guarding the front door.

I have been in Baarle Nassau / Baarle Hertog before and it's pretty fun. On the road you see all kinds of crosses stretching everywhere, with one side behind the crosses having a 'B' for Belgium and the other side has an 'NL' for the Netherlands, but of course this guy explained that. There's also a miniature version of the two cities inside of a little capsule and if you press a button, the miniature Baarle Hertog rises upwards and miniature Baarle Nassau sinks downwards.

Nope. India has already given a large part of its enclaves to Bangladesh last years. And kept of some of Bangladeshis enclaves. The situation arose, when British partitioned Bengal along Religious lines ( this was simply to quell down the anti colonialism whose hotbed was Bengal). So what the clever British did was to simply divide the districts. Now districts do not have perfect staright borders. Add to the fact this area is also a iant swamp and get flooded every monsoon and some part of land gets lost or eroded away. Anyways most of the India Bangladesh is fenced, india fenced the border because when Islamist govt came in Bangladesh, that border became a major route for Pakiatani spies, Pakistani trained terrorists, and fake currency (which wrecked havoc on the economy). Anyways with a progressive govt at Bangladesh things are again looking up.

The North isn't that hostile really, only Turkey can be considered the ''hostile'' one and unfortunately it affects a lot the turkish Cypriots(north). I believe if Turkey stop getting involved in issues that has to do with Cypriots(greeks and turks) we would be able to find a solution much faster. But as always, Turkey wants to have the upper hand in everything no matter if they have the right to do it or not. I think Israel has also some issues with Palestine? i am not sure about that... but i know that there is a supposed ''country'' next to you which is assosiated with Palestine and hates you quite a lot. :P Despite that, we have typical relations with Egypt,Lebanon and Syria so ye...
@ParalimniVoice11 жыл бұрын
Hunter Nopson Its a Ghost Town, the Turks never took advantage of the city after 1974 and they left it in ruins of destruction. The Greek side is now having conversations with the Turkish side for the Famagusta issue. The greatest solution is to be returned to the Greek side so it can be reconstructed and the good thing about it is that most of the turkish side members agree with that solution. Unfortunately though... Turkey is getting involved again and it doesn't aprooves that. If it wasn't for Cyprus, Turkey would be a ''European'' country by now... as long as it doesn't aknowledge Cyprus it will never become European and due its ''war tactics'' the only thing it will get are more enemies.
