My mom learned this recipe (ENSALADA RUSSA) at a cooking school in Mexico...Same technique but with potatoes instead of parsnips and celery for more broth flavor ( that was discarded but my FATHER liked finely chopped in the salad). prefer snips, less carbs? She used peas instead of pickles. I do like to make deli potato and Mac salad with pickles. Your right it is a full meal. Mom served it over lettuce leaves and garnished w/ tomato slices, green olives, and extra egg slices...topped with a few blanched ASPARAGUS. Chicken Tostada's and this salad with Saltines were my favorites for the hot summers in Southern California (L.A.). Didn't waste the Broth, she used it for a simple (peasant soup) of RICE and Garbanzo beans flavored with chop. Tomatoe, onion and cilantro and lemon. My father hated bitting a whole peppercorn much like a tiny soft rock in his soupy beans...NICE MEMORIES. What makes salad Russian? I heard from a Spanish woman that this salad much like Russian cake that's very popular in Spain, really isn't Russian. Is it just the name or was it first made there? Doesn't matter it's great.

+Chef Baba Cooking Show I didn't mean anything bad about your son; just that YOU, Chef Baba, are the star of the show. My husband is a cooking imbecile, too, and I am teaching my son to cook, so he *WON'T* be a cooking imbecile. I will be looking forward to your new show. Have a lovely day!!

I made the soup tonight and the chicken salad... The family loved it... All gone... I wanted to wait for a day to give it a rest, but decided to serve it after refrigerating it for at least 6 hours prior to serving... The only thing was the noodles, I didn't have a homemade pasta machine so I used angel hair I found in the refrigerated area of the supermarket.. I plan to make this again, it was a hit.........everyone loved it....
@ChefbabaTV9 жыл бұрын
+TheLionofJudah That makes my heart so happy that you made my delicious chicken soup and salad. Sorry I am just answering you. We do have mroe shows coming very soon - I had to kick my son in the behind to get him uploading new shows. I hope you now have a pasta machine.
@TheLionessjudah9 жыл бұрын
Chef Baba Cooking Show Definitely I will be here for more.. That soup and salad was a hit with my family. You can't make enough because the leftovers are gone pronto.. The pasta machine I didn't get but I used the fresh noodles in the refrigerator section but I need to really gear up for a pasta machine because the one you use is not found in the U.S. so that will be something I have to do my homework again on because I was hesitant to get anything.. But I love these videos (I watched them all) and I would love to see this show on Television because it is not like other cooking shows and you are the star for sure...A real talent and blessed with a talent for bringing joy into people's homes.. Thank you for writing will be back again..

Just made this recipe in conjunction with the chicken soup. I see now why you call it your "precious"! The only caveat is remember to add salt by taste the first time, as I think my pinch was too big; the result ended up quite salty. But that's my fault, not Baba's. ;) It's still quite delicious. Can't wait to have it for lunch tomorrow....

How long did you cook your chicken and what kind of heat did she use? Low and slow? Or fast and high?
@ChefbabaTV9 жыл бұрын
+TIFFANI WISEMAN So sorry I am slow answering your questions. i cook the soup over 2 hours - it take 2 hours to be real chicken soup. I put everything in, start with HIGH heat, when it boils I turn it down to medium heat, so it stays at a nice low boil. As it cooks skim off the white foam fat from top - takes about an hour. Stir often untl the 2 hours are done. You will have a beautiful soup.

No disrespect, but I think it's a bit of a shame you didn't name your kids a traditional Serbian or Yugoslavian name instead of English names, I still love your channel and I did subscribe.
@ChefbabaTV6 жыл бұрын
Maksim Vucetic Thank you for the comment. Damir actually named two out of his three kids with traditional names. They are Damir Isaac and Mira Paige. Jon Dylan is the only full American name. He gave them middle names ...So, two out of three I guess is not bad. 😂 Love, Chef Baba. ❤️
