Summarised Jarrod Kimber, a renowned cricket analyst, discusses the current state of Pakistan cricket, focusing on Babar Azam's career trajectory and the broader issues facing Pakistani cricket. Regarding Babar Azam: - Kimber notes that while Babar was once considered a potential great, his recent form dip has affected his standing. - He believes Babar still has the talent to go on a tear and average 60-70 for a few years, potentially elevating his status. - Kimber suggests that Babar's struggles may be due to technical problems, PCB issues, and captaincy pressures. - He supports Babar's decision to step down from captaincy, believing it wasn't a natural fit and that Babar needs to focus on his batting. On Pakistan Cricket's structural issues: - Kimber emphasizes that the problem with Pakistan cricket isn't just about players, captains, or coaches, but the entire structure that has fallen behind other nations professionally. - He compares Pakistan's situation to the West Indies, where talent exists but lacks proper development due to systemic issues. - Kimber advocates for a complete overhaul of the system, focusing on grassroots coaching and talent identification. - He stresses the need for a professional scouting network and a database to track potential talents from a young age. - Kimber points out that Pakistan has access to money (through PSL and fan engagement) that some other cricket boards don't, yet lags in professionalism. Media and public perception: - Kimber criticizes the Pakistani media and public for expecting instant success and putting immense pressure on new coaches and captains. - He argues that constant changes in leadership and coaches don't address the root problems. - Kimber draws parallels to other sports teams that cycle through coaches without addressing underlying management issues. Comparison with other cricket nations: - He contrasts Pakistan's approach with New Zealand's, highlighting how the latter manages to develop players like Kyle Jamieson through a systematic approach, despite having fewer resources. - Kimber notes that New Zealand's strength lies not in its first-class system but in how they handle player development and setbacks. Talent management: - Kimber discusses the tendency in Pakistan (and previously in Australia) to search for the "next great 10-year player," often discarding talents prematurely. - He emphasizes that most athletes peak between 27-33 years old, but Pakistan's system often doesn't allow players to reach this stage before being written off. Overall, Kimber advocates for a more patient, systematic, and professional approach to cricket development in Pakistan, focusing on long-term player growth rather than quick fixes and instant success.

What people don't realise is that Babar's decline cannot be compared to Kohli's form dip because Kohli had already won many matches for his team and was the ICC Cricketer of the Decade. Meanwhile Babar has always seemed to decline not improve with a few sparks of brilliance here and there.

So here is the plan from what I understood, 1. Stop finding long term star players - if you do have stomach for failures, theirs as well yours 2. Find a professional coach/manager and have him there for 3-5 years at least - be ready to tolerate him even if you think you are smarter than him 3. Try to create a pool of 25 players who can sub in for each other 4. Invest in info and system 5. Stop political interferences.

I'm a doctor, and I don't think practicing catching a ball on a mattress is a good idea. Even if the players learn to catch the ball properly, they may not be able to land safely during a match because their muscle memory will still think they are landing on a soft surface. I'm not a catching expert, and I'm a very bad fielder myself, but I still think eliminating the fear of cricketers to land on a hard surface would have been better and a safer way to learn the technique.

Hayee Shehzad, you asked my Bradman wala question but not the entirety of it (which is fair since it was quite long) but I addressed his "rebuttal". Playing in an extremely small talent pool naturally gives you (an anomaly) a far higher chance of standing out. It's precisely why we see so many people having insane achievements at regional or even youth level but this becomes far harder to do when it's a competitive global talent pool. It's also why people/teams have insane achievements when sports are at their infancy.

All the guys saying how he is overestimated. I do believe results are evident, but simply the circumstances that you play in and you still have achieved this much is a testimony to your talent. Babar plays for Pakistan not India Australia or England. In the end you are to be treated as a great for what you do for your team. You don't get tendulkar or Kohli records without 5 test match, ODI series home and away. And pressure from there other end distracted bowling from you, but it's like you only really need a plan to get Babar out. These are things that only people who are following every match and struggling journey of the cricketing nation can perceive.
@God_Is_FraudАй бұрын
The problem with Pakistan cricket is best described by Syed Muzammil Shah. It is the losers mindset. Pakistan team has no imagination, strategy, planning and execution. Players go out on the ground with tawakkul on alla hoping their imaginary sky daddy will make them victorious because they are Muslims and doing the work of Islam. Obviously they lose most of the times.

Pakistan needs to look at cricket in the Olympics as a threat. Because all the countries that traditionally didn't take cricket seriously will now start doing so to boost their Olympic contingent. And if cricket becomes a sport where the Olympic tournament has 12 teams, first world countries like Japan or Germany would want to overthrow one of the incumbents and take an Olympic spot.

Everything jarrod said makes sense. 1) the PCB is a shitshow just like the country. The boys have run the country into the ground by their nonstop changes and interference. So it is apt that one of their henchmen would be in charge of PCB as the team hits new lows just like the country overall. 2) cricket depends on the overall country's economy. It is not a surprise that as indian economy booms and more money pours into indian cricket, the talent keeps getting better. They are even producing fast bowlers now. Why? Because the incentives and support is there. As the pakistani economy shrinks, pakistan cricket will only get worse.
