I started learning Greek from scratch with duolingo 20 days ago. I like it. I'm 80 years old so I need a lot of repetitions for words to stick. And as the alphabet is new to me, I appreciate the feature of just tapping the word buttons to construct a phrase. But I also need to see the grammar in the form of tables in order to grasp the system, so for that I use several youtube channels like Easy Greek and others where I can get the grammar overview. And I do a lot of handwriting, copying the duolingo exercises to paper and making new sentences based on the same model using the vocabulary learned so far. It is a pity that duolingo doesn't have the Spanish to Greek version, only English to Greek, as I find some of the English phrases a bit ambiguous to translate in terms of conjugation, grammatical genders, etc. In that sense Spanish is closer to Greek. I was curious about how far the duolingo course would go, so I tested it with a couple of languages that I know well, jumping to the most advanced levels, and I am quite impressed. I don't even aspire to get that far in Greek! So I think that I can look forward to a fun year of learning!

Currently using Duolingo and liking it, but real curious about Babbel (which is why I'm watching the video). Thanks for all the info!

I think duolingo is best as a supplemental tool and as motivation ( keeping your streak alive )

I have to agree, I find myself leaning spanish more with chat gpt, having brief conversations and leaning new things, but I have a 250 day streak on duolingo so I make sure I do at least 1 lesson a day.

Duolingo is changing. They removed the review button and now have a pay increase to participate in the videos and phone calls.

Duolingo is getting worse and worse

I am using Duolingo as a supplement to learn. I did enjoy the paid version but just can’t justify spending the money on it right now. Free version works well enough though and they do make it more fun than a standard learning app. I personally didn’t enjoy babbel as much.
