▬ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ▬
Babbel vs Rocket Languages (Which Course Is More Effective?). In this video, John from the Test Prep Insight team (along with a polyglot who is fluent in five different languages), compares Rocket Languages vs Babbel. These are two of the best language learning apps available, and as a result, consumers often have a difficult time deciding which one is better. John covers pricing, subscription options and what the languages lessons from companies are like. He then covers the areas in which Rocket Languages is better than Babbel and the areas in which Babbel is more effective than Rocket Languages. Whether you're looking to learn Chinese, French or Spanish, Babbel and Rocket are excellent choices. You can also learn other languages like German, Russian and Japanese as well, among many others. Overall, John prefers the audio-based lessons of Rocket to Babbel. He thinks the Rocket lessons do a great job getting you to practice your conversational skills. Rocket also provides detailed grammar lessons as well. With that said, John also likes the Babbel language drills than span reading, writing, listening and speaking. Thanks for watching this Rocket Languages review and Babbel review. Hopefully it helps you decide the best language course for your specific situation.

I really have to check out Rocket, it sounds like it would fit me. I've started on another course and I'm making some headway, but can tell it is going to be better for starting and will need something different down the road. I really like the conversation aspect you describe other courses having to translate or speak phrases that just don't seem like natural language gets old. Thanks for the review.

Superb video. You do a great job, and this is a wonderful free service. About your speaking delivery: With many of your sentences, the last couple of words are near-silent, as if you're running out of air. Instead of words at volume, all we get is a little air and some consonants. While lip-reading, it's not a big deal, but when the camera isn't on you, it makes your delivery hard to follow. Thanks for reading. Now it's time to click on your links and hit that "like" button!

Hey, I'm reviewing language courses to see what one is better for me & am so glad that you've made this obstacle easier. 👍🏻 I need basic beginner (I know 4 words.) I learn languages best when I break down the word into components and equate that component to an english word. For example, moo (= soynds like cow moo) ey (key/money) and then connect the components/syllables and say it faster and faster. Same with bien = bee (insect) + en(d). Taking parts of english words and corresponding it to a language for annunciation comparison also sets up a visual memory association. I once easily helped a Croatian woman practice the english word ""vulnerable" using the same techniqie and I don't know Croatian. The woman liked the word "vulnerable" but had trouble with it for years. In a few minutes we broke down components as I sounded out syllables and she equated it to phonetically similar words in Croatian. If there's no syllable I break it down by letter. Do you know of any English/Spanish course that has an option for this technique? How did you compare Pimsleur? I notice their tutortial lesson #1 breaks things down faster for a beginner. Rocket flooded me and it was overwhelming. I notice the Rocket would interest me if I already knew the basics. Do you have any comparison to Pimsleur? Thanks.

There's no course that is built around a syllable-level phonetic breakdown, but that is interesting. Rosetta Stone could be a decent option though. There voice tech is very good and does seem to focus more on output and pronunciation

Great review! I will stick with Rocket. But I consider that most of the languages courses do not approach correctly the writing skills that a person needs when learning a second language, will be interesting what are the best option for persons fluent in one language and trying to improve writing skills.

Tip for Babbel. Buy lifetime after new year, they usually do huge sale. I got lifetime Babbel for $200. Rocket is great as well and its superior for learning asian languages like Japanese and Chinese. Just remember learning a language is an investment. It takes time, energy, and sometimes money. But remember to always have fun and take breaks. Btw great video.

I’d love to be able to hold conversation in Italian. I’m torn between these 2apps. Do you think I should start with babbel to get the “fundamentals” down then switch to Rocket? Or is the level 1 Rocket the equivalent to babbel?
@TestPrepInsight

Honestly, I use both together. Their differences complement each other nicely. If I was going to pick just one, it would be Rocket, though I do really like Babbel. You'll just make progress more quickly with Rocket.

Would they be compatible if I decided to do both? Rocket as a once a week lesson and Babble for a short and sweet daily? I like the idea of giving my brain daily practice, but I don't have the spoons to do an hour everyday.
@TestPrepInsight
@TestPrepInsight 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, yes, that wouldn't be a bad combo at all. That's the beauty of Babbel - short and sweet lessons during the week. Then if you have time you could do longer Rocket lessons on weekends. Only issue is that the curriculums won't directly align. Might be learning about different thematic topics. But if you don't mind that, they could complement each other well.
