Shame on you for including Stella Liebeck's case. You even ADMITTED that McDonald's KNEW that the coffee was too hot. They had settled multiple cases out of court. Lieback suffered 3rd degree burns. This case would never have gone to court if McDonald's had simply paid her hospital bill. In the end, that was all she had really wanted. But when you consider how many people suffered serious 3rd degree burns, it was time someone hit them in the wallet to get McDonald's to change. Lids also changed, making them much easier to open. All good things. Instead, you shamefully label Stella like a lot of other people.

No. Because you cannot prove they did it intentionally. People pay for a drink though, not half a cup of ice... If they wanted half a cup of ice, they'd ask for it. (instead of having the customer complain there's too much, have them ask if they want more, duh...) An iced drink shouldn't have more than the equivalent to a couple ice cubes that you would use at home, people at home don't make half of their drink ice unless the drink is water.

I like the fact the hot coffee story was covered properly. However it should be nowhere near this video as that case was legitimate, not ridiculous. However it was twisted into a "ridiculous" case and few people know what actually happened anymore, which is what McDonalds and other companies wanted to make "frivolous" lawsuits a thing and have laws put in place to shield companies even more from any sort of tort, even if it isnt "frivolous".

Hot coffee lady was stupid, how are you going to sue for a drink being hot, when you ordered a hot drink? Obviously you might happen to get one that was from a freshly brewed pot, in which case it will be hotter. Also, in order for her to do that, she'd have to have been trying to drink it while driving, if it was that hot, she could have waited... She probably hit a bump while trying to sip, burned her lip, then dropped the coffee onto her lap. I have gone over this one on other videos, and people tried to tell me I was wrong, but come on, all it takes is some logic.It's a hot drink, of course it's going to be hot, it could even be near 100 degrees celcius when you get it. There are even warnings on the cup about the hot drink. Nobody expects luke warm coffee, she shouldn't have either. And that stupid lawsuit would be why McDonalds coffee isn't hot enough now... I didn't order a warm drink, I ordered a hot one. Might as well make coffee with hot water directly from the tap, it'd be hotter in my house.
@SkjernOmme3 жыл бұрын
So much misinformation. She was not driving when it happened. Her grandson was the one driving and she was in the passenger seat. They where parked when it happened. Also she got third degree burns and suffered permanent disfigurement. She was at the hospital for 8 days because and she had to undergo skin grafting, she was disabled for 2 years, because of this. Sure Cofé is hot but it should not so hot it gives third degree burns.

@witchy902103 жыл бұрын
Well you ARE wrong as that is not at all what happened. She was a passenger in a parked car. She was taking off the lid to add cream and sugar and the coffee spilled on her lap. This caused THIRD DEGREE BURNS on her inner thighs and genitals. There was no warning stating that the coffee was THAT hot. Coffee should not be held at nearly boiling temperature, not freshly brewed, but KEPT at that temperature per McDonalds POLICY. McDonalds had received complaints about the coffee being too hot before, and it took this lawsuit to have them change policy so that coffee is not held at nearly boiling temperature coffee. Are you really saying that coffee should be consumed at that high a temperature? Hot enough to scald and burn skin? Or do you simply not know anything about the case and dont want to educate yourself on the facts because your point is "logical." While your point is logical it is not what happened, at all. You are just wrong and cant be told or shown otherwise.
