10 of the WEIRDEST things in Las Vegas

After becoming a Las Vegas local, I’ve come across many weird elements to this city. I mean the whole concept of Vegas is weird, right?
Today I’ve compiled a list of what I deem to be the weirdest parts of visiting and/or living here. I’ll talk about Slots A Fun, The Star Trek Experience, homeless and tunnel living, Bonanza Gift Shop, Luxor Inclinators, monsoons, Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum, Prizm Outlets at Primm, Aztec Inn Casino, and the Bodies Exhibitions.

People would go to Slots a Fun with a plastic bag, buy 6 Heinekens for 75 cents each, carefully place them in the plastic grocery bag, and walk them 2 minutes to the Stardust Sports Book and watch the game. Watching the bartenders sell those Heinekens was quite a sight, they never stopped moving. Thousands of bottles an hour. And if you think it was a bad deal for the Slots a Fun......wrong. Because when you had some Heineken, you'd try your luck at the dice table, open at the sidewalk with no door to walk through, just a dice table on the sidewalk basically, open air to the sidewalk....those were the days

Slots-of-Fun used to hand out free popcorn. We'd park at Circus Circus, watch the free Circus acts, then leave through the door next to Slots-of-Fun, get the free popcorn and exit onto the Strip. When the mob was running things, Las Vegas was a fun and inexpensive vacation!

I was a security guard a long time ago (early nineties) right across the street from the Slots of Fun at the El Morocco and La Concha Hotels which have been demolished. I used to go to Slots of Fun after work and get the 75 cent Coronas and $1 footlong hotdogs all the time!

That's the time period when Vegas was so much fun. Slots of fun was the first casino I walked into back in the day. Had a hot dog & beer and won 60.00

I moved here in 97 from chicago .. I think it’s weird they’re going to build a baseball stadium on the strip … there’s space by the M resort and North LV but nope let’s put more on the strip and make traffic near impossible to avoid

Slots-a-Fun was a really fun place to gamble when they had table games too. A craps table used to be positioned right at the open entrance along the strip that made it feel like you were almost playing outside!

I'm in Summerlin, we had a lots of rain on Aug 1st, my backyard almost flooded. Great video. When the Luxor opened, they had running moats filled with water and Egyptian boats, and boy did it smell bad. When I came into town, worked at the Riviera and went across the street to both Circus Circus and Slots of Fun.......just for fun.

Yes, we have stayed multiple times at Luxor Hotel. And sure over the years it has lost it's brilliance. The inclinator never me as each stay was in the pyramid hotel section. Thanks for sharing about the Star Trek Experience leftovers. I was a huge fan of this when it was open and was such a blast.

Great review with interesting attractions. I always visit Slots of Fun ! It's sort of strange and seedy, a little dark and dirty and dingy, but that's the charm ! The inclinators at the Luxor are cool, but they are slow and often a few are broken. When the hotel is full, the lines are very long at the inclinators. I recommend staying in the tower rooms as they have modern high speed elevators and no lines. And just walk over to the inclinator and do a ride for fun.

I went to Slots a Fun for the 75 cent Heineken bottles in 1993, just amazing, and the dice table at the sidewalk was always packed and the min bet was about $1, and free popcorn, you could never move in there, that's how packed it was

I would say the homelessness issue is on par with any other major city… However I have noticed them in more "tourist" areas than prior to covid… During Covid when the strip was shut down we would drive around and they were everywhere and the cops weren't moving them off the strip, looks like they ended up staying.

Sometime during the 90's I visited the Debbie Reynolds Casino. (formerly the Paddlewheel). The place was completely deserted. I didn't know what was going on. Later I read in her autobiography how she tried to start a casino with a Hollywood museum.

I havent visited Vegas since covid bs went down and our Bluegrass festivals got shutdown... (hope they return, cause i loved playing out there) but your video tours and content are really informative!!! Id totally be down to visit some of those next time i go there.. The empty malls are creepier than the Ghost place.. haha.. in San Diego, our Homelessness is a Epidemic itself... its really Sad everywhere!!!.. Keep up the great videos!!! Good Stuff!!!

When I go to Las Vegas I like to stay off of Las Vegas Blvd. Slots of Fun used to be a nice place. My wife loved it. Used to like to shop at the Bonanza Gift Shop. Wouldn't like to stay at the Luxor. Haunted Museum sounds like it might be fun. The Aztec Inn I think is near The Strat.

the street performers are getting out of hand.. i visit Vegas nearly every year, since i moved from there in 2002, to play in WSOP or just visit my brother who still lives there ( Was LVMPD for 32 yrs, retired 2002 ). street performers really trying to corner you with a photo, the Time share people who harass you at every major entrance, and wannabe rappers shoving DVD's into your hand, and wanting $10 for it .. as for the weather, when i worked at Ceasars Palace, the Forum Casino flooded two yrs in a row.. in i think 2005, it rained so hard, i saw cars being washed out of the parking lot behind what used to be the Imperial Palace, and is now the LinQ.. Fremont St is the place to go for really weird, but, also some talented, street performers.. some on stage are pretty damn good. fun video.. youre the perfect fit for Vegas...keep thinking Kim Kardashian is doing KZbin... ( meant as a compliment... )..

We stayed at Luxor recently. It was ok. Unique experience. We did not go to this particular exhibition for the same reasin you mentioned and also no fun watching it. We already read everything in our aunotomy class. Halways on the floors are dangerous. It should be a bit higher. When you stand on it and look around it does give you the felling of being trapped ilinside something. There rooms need renovation.

I once saw a homeless women pushing her shopping cart through Mandalay Place and no one was stopping her. Everyone just stopped and starred. She was in there a while before security escorted her out via the ride share door. Kind of funny.
