I have an Asian mother and when I decided to take a position with a private company over a government role as my first job she didn’t speak to me for about 6 months. 10 years later I decided I didn’t want to be an attorney anymore and quit my job to take a tech boot camp to become a software developer (I had zero experience in tech) - she had a similar heart attack but understands now I make my own decisions. It’s been a year and I have no regrets. I landed an amazing tech grad position post boot camp and continue to love this path I have chosen. Congrats on your determination and perseverance. I’m super happy that it turned out alright!

Your story gave me hope when I was losing hope in growing in tech because I couldn’t get just one interview. And I’m here looking into software engineering and nervous about coding but if you can go through all of that and make it so can I. Thank you so much for your story you just gave me the jumpstart I needed to hit the ground running again.

I dropped out of college because I was dealing with mental health issues and the tuition was rising up. I wanted to be a teacher but teachers get treated like crap. I wanted to switch my major but I didn't wanted to the same you were about to do, spend more time. As of now, I am not regretful of dropping out and I am fully going for a new career and that is programming as well as graphic design. I really enjoyed watching your videos and you inspire me to become a programmer. ❤

Thanks for sharing your story, including the gritty details and the numbers. I went from having perfect credit to sub-600 and now back to over 750. From my perspective, credit reporting bureaus care about two things most: (1) on-time payment (keep it “exceptional”) and (2) utilization (as you said; high credit limits but under 30% actually used). Unsecured credit and crypto are risky ventures, so congrats to you for negotiating that minefield without blowing up your credit in the process, and coming out with a well-paid career. That 1k/mo from your parents didn’t hurt either, so don’t forget to thank them one day. :) I hope they are proud of you for what you have accomplished. Continued success to you.

Great story. Just want to point out to others that even if you (others) do have bad credit, you can build it back up. I've had bad credit myself for missed payments on my vehicle and phone many years ago. Started being smart about payments for credit/loans and I eventually got it over 820. It can be done, just takes time. lol, I love spending money on junk, but it's all about spending within your means.

Incredible story! Fantastic job! Congrats! ... Well, don't worry much about a college degree, guys. You know, I have a Master's degree and a PhD degree (with honors) in liberal arts. I graduated from the university in 2018. It was all worthless. No one ever wanted to hire me. No one wanted to tell me why. No feedback. Nothing. I applied like crazy and I got nothing. I've never had any debt though. Btw. I'm not from the US, I'm from the EU.

I have been watching you videos since you posted your first video explaining your journey of being a software engineer. It’s very very inspiring and I wonder why you had to get some prescriptions from the doctor. Is it because of mental health? If I were you, my mental health would haven gone downhill 😢. It’s miraculous that you survived it! I know how it felt as well when your parents aren’t supporting you for the basics and leave you to your own devices when you aren’t even ready to swim…I’m struggling with mental health issues, which have led to eczema. I ain’t sure what to do with it…
@BABEENGINEER
@BABEENGINEER Жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing Ben. Mental health is important, I would start with eating more vegetables, getting enough sunshine, and exercising daily. If you do all of that and you still feel the blues, then talk to your doctor about medication. Also, I used to have eczema, and then I started eating a lot better and a few years later it went away. I also talked to my doctor for ointments for eczema during the time I had it and it really helped.

I think tech companies went there because it was cool in the 60s when it was a scene for civil rights and music and arts. but now it's a place where the dems say they want to help the homeless but not at the cost of making affordable rent. maybe I'm saying move out of sf. it isn't it.

She says that her parents were literally giving her "only" a thousand dollars a month. That is a jaw-dropping privileged and selfish attitude. I can respect the fact that she's successful, I understand why people take certain risks, but she's really only where she is now because of her parents. I sincerely hope she paid them back in full, if not more. Claiming that she struggled and was "broke" after moving to one of the most expensive cities in the world, is just pure arrogance. She doesn't even see how fortunate she really is, and the egocentric way in which she explains her story is all the proof I need to be certain of that. I'm definitely unsubscribing!
