I've read a lot of comments comparing Ashton with other people. I know Ashton isn't the best drummer, but still he is very good at doing what he does, he enjoys it and I love his energy. He is very talented, he also plays guitar, piano, saxophone and he sings very well, I think he is underestimated.

To everyone saying that Ashton isn't talented - please stfu. Yes, the fans understand that Ashton's skills are basic, and yes, we understand that he cannot be compared to legends, but the passion he puts in is what matters. And quite honestly, there are much better videos of Ashton drumming. He's not even close to the drumming legends, but the talent and passion he's got at this age is amazing, especially considering the fact that he's self-taught (I'm not very sure, but I think he once mentioned that he learnt the basics himself.)

So to everybody saying “it isn’t even that good” “watch ____, they’re alot better”, you haven’t even seen the best of him. Trust me, it feels reaaallllyyyyyy good to drum doing the kinds of faces Ash does when he drums. 🤘🏻😆 I used to be a shy drummer until I saw Ash play drums. Since then, I’ve loved playin drums more and more that I don’t hold back hitting those drums- even if it breaks. 😆😆😆 The most important thing of being a drummer is playing those basic grooves with passion and keeping the whole band together. Grooves > Fills Also, 5sos is not a Jazz/Funk band. Don’t expect them to play complicated notes, unless they want to. Drumming is never about playing as many notes in a second.

No it was a friend of his wanted to start a band, Ashton told him he could play drums when he couldn’t. Luckily, his stepdad was a drummer in a band and so when Ash went home that night he told his step dad he needed him to teach him to play drums. Once he learned enough to play a few songs, he went around and played with his step dad’s band. Then when 5SOS played at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney, They didn’t have a drummer. Michael had heard about Ash. So Michael messaged him on facebook and asked him to play the gig. Ash said yes ofc. After that gig was over, they all went outside and Calum got down on one knee and asked Ash to be in the band.. And thank the lord Ashton said yes!! Not to be rude or correcting just helping another member of the 5SOS fam out!! 😃

Depends on your taste... But you don't need to say this in the comments of a 5sos video. Most people here love Ashton pretty much. And Ash is a great human being! He can also play the guitar and the piano and his voice is angelic, even though he isn't singing that much. The fans here don't see him as just the drummer, but as the whole Ashton. They know what makes him the perfect drummer for 5sos, he's sassy and funny and friendly and cute. And this is why they call him the best! Because for them he is the best with his drumming and with his personality.
