I haven't measured the swing weight on my two but the gen 2 with string and dampener 334g and my gen 3 335g so happy with that
@benjaminjensen111Ай бұрын
You dont need dampener with the 3. gen Pure Strike 98 its muted enough with the rubber stuff incorporated in the 9 and 3 in the hoop. If the string and dampener add 30 grams then your racket is 8-10 grams over spec. strings are usually 16-18 grams and dampener 2-3 grams. Your swingweight will then be around 345. which is quite a lot. You are sure you did not buy the TOur version? I have two PS 16 x 19 at 325 weight with strings and 330 Swingweight.

Hi, last year I bought a pure strike 98 just before the new one came out, I really enjoy playing with it. I want to get another one. Which do you think I should buy, the older or newer model? Thanks
@tenniseuphoria50124 жыл бұрын
barry king hi, tough call, I think if you play with a lot of spin and power then the new version offers more there. It is more comfortable too so if that is a factor go that way. That said the 2018 has a unique response and certainly I play better with it. Of course they do play a little different so you may also want two the same to interchange. Overall I would say the new is a better racket for pure strike style players. Hope that helps

What strings are you using? I was thinking about buying rpm blast 1.30. Will it be any good? I'm also thinking about luxilon alu power
@tenniseuphoria50124 жыл бұрын
Aqn Guitar hi, for the pure strike they could be good options for sure - would great lots of power and spin. I am used to lighter powered sticks so for me shaped poly’s and soft poly’s were working well to control the power - things like dunlop black widow and tourna big hitter black 7 aswell as msv hex work well in the strike I think aswell if you find you over hit with blast.
@artrook4 жыл бұрын
@@tenniseuphoria5012 I tried varios strings and the Babolat RPM blast 1.30 works best for me in the Project One7. The G3 version with the same string and tension of the racket is good from the baseline but is a much worse touch and feel racket, I find it very hard to drop shot and volleying also not as crisp. G3 is just too dampened I guess to address all these complaints from those who say it hurt their arm... I would say that One7 is a lot better for more advanced players who have no history of tennis elbow and bad wrists

The 3rd Gen PS 16x19 is not as good as the 2016-17 Project one7 which has better feel. The 3rd Gen is a quite a bit more brittle. The same goes for the 3rd Gen 18x20 vs the Project One7 era PS 18x20. The older one has much better feel, too. The older PS racquets just have a different layup that allows feeling more connected to shots.
@benjaminjensen111 Жыл бұрын
Mostly to due with the project one is more stiff 68 vs 66 and do not have the C2 Pure Feel tech. Just put on a leather grip on the 3th gen and string it a bit tighter then you get the right feel and balance. it is a racket for hard hitting tournament players and they complained about the vibrations and arm fatigue and it got solved with rubber in the hoop at 3 and 9.

What strings should I get I currently use solinco pro tour and it seems way too powerful for me and the feel is kinda pingy I was wondering in using rpm blast next.

Good review. How really bad is the project one seven on your arm? Know it is stiff and many reviews say it has killed their arm. Maybe ok with hybrid or softer poly?
@tenniseuphoria50124 жыл бұрын
David Ashman Hi, yes would agree that it is not arm friendly! A hybrid is a good idea. Mine has yonex poly tour air in it - quite a soft poly and can just about get away with it! The 3 rd gen is more comfortable. Although the 3 rd gen 100 is horrible on the arm!

Hi There, Which frame do you prefer the Pure Strike or the Blade v7 98 16 x 19? Which racquet gives you more confidence and better feel?
@tenniseuphoria50124 жыл бұрын
Ken Harris hi there, the v7 98 16x19 blade for me. The V7 has a lovely feel and I can trust it more than the strike. The strike has more power and spin however so I could imagine that those looking for those strengths in a stick would prefer the strike. Cheers

Have you ever played with the first version of this frame and how it played? Thanks

David Ashman hi, not for any length of time, but I have hit the 18x20 first strike for about an hour years ago . Smaller sweet spot than the project one 7 from memory! Cheers

great review! but how does it compare to the PS 3rd gen 100 version?
@tenniseuphoria50124 жыл бұрын
Woogie Choi hi. Thanks. In my view it is just much better! The 3rd gen 100 is more powerful but it is very stiff - even I was getting arm soreness with it. The 100 has less control too. I don’t really get the 3rd gen p s 100 - for those traits just get a pure drive! The 16x19 3rd gen 98 however is good. Pure drive ish power, more control, great spin 👍

Why does a Thiem play with a 18x20?
@harrykerr61144 жыл бұрын
I think it is because an 18x20 brings more control and that’s something he needs for his game.
@benjaminjensen111Ай бұрын
He did hit very hard. So for it not to sail out of court he needed those extra strings to control the power. This also means that the 18 x 20 is not a good match for advanced clubplayers. Thiem ended up playing with a 100" 16 x 19 Pure Strike, as he lost that great power due to injury and needed more help from racket in his last year playing

Hey Andy, awesome reviews, now rewatching a lot of your videos as I am trying to find a new second racquet on eBay I really want to get your take on the Wilson 99S, I’ve been eyeing that racquet for a while, and as a flat hitter, I am looking to find more spin but not sacrifice the ability to hit through the court and flatten out. With that said, Pure Strike Project OneSeven or Wilson 99S?
