Louder Than Eleven

Күн бұрын

Babsi Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher went to battle on one of El Cap’s most formidable free routes. With some of the hardest climbing in the Valley crammed into 16-pitches, the Zodiac (5.13d) had only seen two previous ascents … until Babsi and Jacopo showed up.

The split screen sequence on the Nipple pitch where both climbers appear to be climbing in unison with identical beta is great editing!

Great video! I loved the split screen shots of the climbing. I have so many memories of climbing in Yosemite...oh, to be young again...

Out of curiosity, have all these documentaries been filmed by LTE, and are they just now being released for free? I'm absolutely loving all this content and just want to learn a bit more how these films were previously distributed so I can hunt for more :)

Amazing! Babsi and Jacopo never disappoint! First off, did Babsi place any gear on the first pitch (5.10d)??!! Running it out! Also, I notice on the harder pitches it looks like the gear is pre-placed. Is this the common style on harder pitches? It certainly makes these climbs feel more like sport climbs than trad climbs, but I'm not sure if that's the same way as TC or the Hubers. Really hard climbing!

lol. Take a whip on gear at 2000ft and lemme know if it feels like sport climbing.

Babsi and Jacopo have pinkpointed most of their routes on the Captain, most other ascents are done redpoint, placing on lead, but no one really cares as long as you're honest about the style you do it in, except for maybe some crusty old-heads. This is also a ground up ascent of a 13d with 5 5.13 pitches, which is absolutely insane

Also on the traversing pitches like the Nipple Pitch it's a logistical nightmare to clean every time you fall.

@@iedison3839 Thanks! This is the answer I was looking for. Insane climb, no matter what style. They were pretty clear up front saying they would be lead all the hard pitches and swap leads on the easier pitches. The pinkpointing vs redpointing was not mentioned and I wonder how others had done it before.

They have helmets with them and yet a good chunk of the time they aren't wearing them. I really don't get it, one bad whip or some unlucky rockfall and you could have a traumatic brain injury half a kilometre off the ground. A great achievement, but I wish climbing athletes would model safety better.

This is outstanding and you guys are incredible humans. Loved watching you two flow over a commiting line that doesnt even seem feasible. Scary Question: Does Pink Pointing count as a full send, or do you have to remove all gear for a traditional redpoint 🫣 -Asking as a guy who will prob never attempt to send 5.12a on gear..
