When I first get them for 2 weeks I have them on newspaper or paper towels to quarantine them away from the other animals then swap them to orchid bark after that if everything OK no illnesses or ill

That's so smart! I also always do paper towels for a few weeks in the beginning in quarantine! I heard orchid bark is nice!

Hey Johan, I use coco husk for my BP (also for my BCI and Rainbow Boa) have no problem with humidity in any of my Viv's. Obviously if it starts to drop I re moisten the Coco husk. I do this probably every 6/7 days for the BP. Once every 2/3 days for rainbow Boa (85/90% humidity) and once every 6/7 days for my BCI. Never had to put a humid hide in and (so far) had no issues with shedding. I do use a humid hide for my Hognose but only put that in once I see he's going into shed as he obviously normally prefers a lower humidity and because he's on a different substrate. Keep well. Ian

It's seems like a humid hide is not necessary! As long as you keep an eye on the overall humidly! Thanks for sharing this Ian!

@@JohanExoticGlobal I use a govee thermometer/hygrometer in each Viv that allows me to monitor constantly on my phone (not that I do) and it warns me if either temp or humidity drops below the parameters I set. Great bit of kit especially for those requiring higher humidity like my rainbow boa
@JohanExoticGlobal2 жыл бұрын
@@ianovermire That's really cool! The fact that you can monitor it in your phone is really crazy! Do you use any water bowls for the snakes to bath in? Or do you just use a regular water bowl?
@ianovermire2 жыл бұрын
@@JohanExoticGlobal I use "reptile branded" water bowls of varying sizes for my BP, Hognose and BCI but for my Rainbow Boa I actually use a kitten litter tray for him because it has big surface area to help with humidity. He is also the only one of my four snakes that I have seen bath
@JohanExoticGlobal2 жыл бұрын
@@ianovermire I see! That's awesome. I'm curious because I have heard many people saying that BP isn't that interested in bathing. So I wanted to know your experience :)

Good option for a hide is a washing up bowl or round one cut a arch and put duct tape on the edge to make sure the animal doesn't injure itself
@JohanExoticGlobal2 жыл бұрын
That's really smart to use duck tape to help the snake from injuring itself! Thanks for all comments Lewis!! :)

For my ball python’s tank I just keep the entire thing humid. Should I get a humid hide or should I keep it how it is?
