We now know that all reptiles (and all animals including humans) do need UVB... also Leopard Geckos make terrible pets for Children... not only are they small enough that children could easily injure them... Leopard geckos are also very prone to stuck shed which quickly loses them toes... A gecko does not make a good pet for children at all... aim for something bigger that won't die as easily like a hamster or guinea pig
