Cool.... I had a white 73 Hilux. That engine uses a double timing chain set up, the tensioners tended to get a bit loose and cause timing chain noise. Never skipped, but made intermittent racket. Also, there is a carburetor heat tube that is under the manifold that can end up with holes in it from the exhaust and direct exhaust gases back into the carb, it screwed my carb up to where the secondarys stopped working... But, that is a cool truck . I got mine at 83,000 miles in 1983 for $500.00 and ran it to 120 something a couple years later...

Though the build date is 1973, this truck was produced for the 1974 model year. 1972 & 1/2 and 1973 pickups had the fuel cap on the driver's side. From 1974 to the end of the RN20's production in 1978, the gas cap was on th passenger side.

Nice truck! The old ones didn't rust as bad as the newer ones. I had an 81 with a 4cyl. deisel! I kick myself in the butt for ever getting rid of it! Had hardly any rust at all and ran great! Not a high speed vehicle, but lots of torque with that lil deisel!

Beautiful truck, very rare to find one that straight and rust free. These were throw away vehicles, people used them, beat them up, they rusted out, junked and crushed. Nobody ever thought about preservation. As for the patina, I'd leave it as is, give the mechanicals a once over, replace every rubber door seal, hose and vacume line and leave it at that. Use it for weekend runs to the hardware store and the local cruise in. If you start to paint this truck, its going to be one of those never ending things IMO. You're going to want to paint the door jambs, fender wells, under the hood, do you pull the motor to paint under the hood??? Gotta paint the inside of the doors too, before you know it you're doing a frame off restoration.

beautiful truck, awesome condition, and how was the area where the weather stripping is connected to the top of the cab at the top of where the door meet the cabin, I've seen a few trucks where the stripping is cracked and can hold water, which we all know leads to rust. but overall I'm happy to have just seen a truck like this!

I will say when your selling something it is funny the way it's narrated man look at this it has the original motor ......4spd with reverse with a truck like this it's fine as is 👌 it wouldn't be worth a frame off resto since the truck ain't worth more than 5k max it take 10,000 plus to restore it the plus it's cheap to rebuild that motor and trans and in 75 and under they were so simple anyone can work on it definitely a nice driver .
